Plenty (thousands) of patriots there this weekend, spin off concerts right wing against the Rebellion punk festival which pulls in many thousands as well. Going to be a hot night. Winter Gardens has closed its doors to protect staff and guests.
Police dog drags the protestor away in Blackpool, England. This is what is currently happening in Manchester, Hull, Stoke, Belfast, Nottingham etc. The protests/riots have literally rocked the United Kingdom. #BREAKING#Riots#London#Englandpic.twitter.com/AyDnEu4u2F

We're well and truly living in sick times, that if someone had predicted a few decades back, out would have come "village idiot" or "eccentric" labeling.
It's absolute Orwellian and tens of millions no longer trust "the mainstream". The term "fake news" is NOT stuff of fantasy, its reality.
And who would have predicted that the term "fake news" would ever have become so prevalent in the (of all places!) U.K in the first place, let alone the mass-acceptance of it. Yeah a bit of bygone WW2 wartime propaganda and subterfuge, but what we're seeing now in this day and age?
āFake news" was once something that was only meant to come from sources like āThe Iraqi Information Ministerā.... Soviet āPravdaā.... or some crackpot overseas governmental disinformation office. But from the BBC and many others?

I remember having these discussiins" years back, about the msm and honesty. The truth there is that not one media source is 100% straight, they all have agendas, some obviously have much bigger agendas than others, like Elon Musk and X.
These riots, many non "far rght racists"may have taken part because enough is enough. The truth there is though (in my opinion) these riots wouldn't have happened if the racists hadn't started it all. A bit of the old mob mentality and even normally sane, sensible people can go a bit loopy. Even the Romans understood that.
The big problem is that people have genuine grievances and the government isn't listening. Like I already said, the next time killings like in Southport happen, and it will happen again, there will probably be more "protests" and until or unless the Uk government does something real about the out of control immigration problems the tensions in the affected communities will only heighten as time passes and more crimes are commited.

Couldnāt agree more.
In print media, weāve always had papers that that have leant a particular way and most sensible people can take that into account and read across a range to get a good sense of what is happening.
I donāt like the tone of the Mail, doesnāt mean I donāt there thereās some good investigative journalism done by them or all their journalists are the same.
In defence of the mainstream media, at least thereās some accountability and apart from the red tops, thereās nothing I wouldnāt read.
Different with online stuff as there are things Iāll avoid. Iād never for instance click on a Talk TV link as thereās just no point.
As for Elon Musk, Twitter has always been a bit of a cesspool but you used to be able to curate it a bit. Not anymore. Itās just what he wants you to read.

I disagree with you there regarding Elon and X. I canāt think of many that are actually banned from X. Iām not really interested in it to be honest, however tonight Kahn Sadik is saying social media laws are not fit for purpose. So which one is trying to control social media and information? 1984 anyone?

Well Musk controls X nt any government and he uses it as a platform for his own absurd views, such as saying the Earth is UNDER populated,
Facebook, X, tiktok etc, they all have views on them that are nothing but shite stirring for the brainless masses.
But then go to the other end of that spectrum and we have governments full of well educated morons who simply cannot understand why they are unpopular.

Itās the way the algorithm now works.
Most others try and lead you to things you like and agree with which of course is dangerous itself.
But since Musk has taken over, I know have things thrust down my throat.
You can imagine the kind of people I follow ( I use it mostly for work stuff) yet the people who most regularly turn up in my feed are Lawrence Fox, Yaxley-Lennon, Farage and Alex Jones.
This would never have been the case before Musk.

The point Iām makingā¦maybe not very wellā¦.is no matter what your opinion, no matter what your views and to a certain extent the type of language used, be it abhorrent to some you are allowed free speech. It is then up to the individual to make an opinion.
Our mainstream feed continues to limit any opinion, reduces the information available, and God help you if you use a word, or sentence that yesterday was ok to use but not today, however it may be acceptable tomorrow.
Iām sorry to bore on but Iām a very firm believer in democracy and free speech no matter what my personal opinions are.

I know what you mean. The point I was trying to make is in a democracy youāre entitled to an honest personal opinion. If itās not your personal view then you either ignore it or reply. Itās your choice. Surely it canāt be correct to forbid or ban debate because it doesnāt suit the views of the individual or the group?

My issue isnāt people offering an opinion, itās when people share wrong information thatās dangerous.
Case in point is the killer of those poor girls. It went round like wild fire that he was a Syrian immigrant off a small boat who was on a watch list.
Look where that took us.
Thereās accountability for every person who shared that information.

You are right about this particular point but evening if this tragic incident had never happened, something else would have sparked these riots because too many people have had enough. That was the last straw.

Maybe.
I reckon not pouring petrol on it is helpful.

Then again some are just trouble makers and thugs any reason will do and be used as an excuse.

Accountability yes. But why did these lies spreadā¦and spread so quickly? In part the lack of information left a vacuum that was filled with these rumours. When the police request people not to speculate do you honestly think they wouldnāt?
That disgraceful episode followed hot on the tail of the Manchester airport incident. Selective information found its way into the worldās media. When the full details of that particular incident was finally made public it left a bad taste in the mouth all round.
These two incidents lit the fires of where we are today. And in times like this one of the first casualty is truth.

Planned pro immigration rally in Swansea on Sunday
O goodo , a hot sunny day will bring the thickos ( the ones who want a ruck with the police that is ) , let me guess either Castle Square or County Hall steps . Why create an issue when as far as I'm aware in Swansea there isn't one.
"In a free society, the State is the servant of the peopleānot the master."

Does Swanse@ need more immigrants Are there jobs that we cannot fill by locals Folk from the colonies were encouraged to come here for that reason and especially the dirty jobs out lot wouldnāt do. Carers now seem all ā of colourā . Is that evidence that our people are too lazy, or feckless to do these vital but dirty jobs for people who canāt care for themselves ,often ousted by their own families because they wonāt care for them themselves .
Unfortunately, it is true that many people from ethnic minorities in Swansea are worried at the moment. I helped a Chinese friend of my wife with a visa application for an overseas visit just yesterday, and she was telling me that she takes care about where she goes now. This particular lady works and is also supported by remittances from a husband who works abroad, and should not be a target. However, I agree with the view that a "counter-demonstration" in Swansea is very unhelpful right now, because it will add to the perception that we have more of a problem than presently exists here. The last "anti-fascist" protesters I remember seeing in Castle Square were considerably more intimidating than a small group of (idiotic) middle-aged men clad in black that they were trying to get their hands on.
Re OH's question above, I'm not sure. I know quite a few Asians (mainly wives of Brits) who do work in the care homes sector, and there are certainly a lot of overseas health professionals around, but at the same time I feel we should be able to cope while ratcheting back on overall immigration numbers. The question I ask myself, taking account of the very large population increase we've had in recent years, is: Did the many immigrants who arrived decide they no longer want to work in the shortage occupations? It seems almost like an endless conveyor belt where large numbers of people arrive to fill vacancies, but there is always a need for more.

My point is ,these cretins bemoan immigration when their offspring havenāt the humanity to take on difficult dirty jobs . Too many here want an easy life with all the benefits but with no responsibilities
