As suggested on the matchday thread, let’s kick off the traditional summer transfer speculation. I’ll start with our current loanees. I doubt Palace would release Owen Goodman, and if they did, would we want him or even be able to afford him? Of the rest, I’d definitely like to see Alastair Smith and maybe Riley Harbottle sign if they were released. As for the rest, they’ll be heading back to make room for new choices.
Weird synchronicity - Connor Hall moves to Col U in 2023, so Aaron Donnelly gets his loan to Port Vale as a result. Connor Hall is resigned by Port Vale in summer 2024, so Aaron Donnelly potentially gets his opportunity to make a loan move to Col U.

Will Jay and Greenidge leave today either permanently or on loan and if so will we have enough time to add another body? DC suggesting we will only sign if we have an.outgoing

I wouldn't be surprised to see either or both of them go to be honest as they're obviously not in Cowley's plans and are way down the pecking order. I did hear Jay might be off to Forest Green but no idea if there's any truth in that rumour or not. Think we could do with getting a couple more in but, like you say, it probably needs a departure or two for us to be in a position to make an addition.

I would still like to see a striker but that seems unlikely.
Matt Jay deserves a move away and I hope something can be arranged for him.
Hopefully Arthur Read will stay

Am I correct in thinking the National League's transfer window remains open for another couple of weeks or so? Although this wouldn't help us bring anybody in it does mean all is not lost for Jay. Guess the stumbling bl9ck will be his wages and he might be of a mind to sit it put and draw the money which he is fully entitled to do.
Danny Cowley said: "Some of the money for the likes of Noah (Chilvers) and Jayden Fevrier goes back into the academy and we know how important the academy is to our long-term success as a football club."
Yes Danny it's been a fantastic asset, I'm sure we would never have managed to flirt with non-league without it. FFS
I feel sorry for all the L2 clubs that don't have an oversized academy, those open top busses are not cheap.

I didn't think the National League had a transfer window anymore? The last date to register new players is usually second half of March (I think it's the last Thursday?) to prevent teams flooding their squads with talent in the final stages of competitions.

OK One last time Danny, these are facts and that is bullshit.
I bet Wrexham, Stockport and Mansfield are kicking themselves for not having a Cat2 Academy and running up £30M debt.

Scully on loan from Portsmouth. 25 year old Irish man who scored 37 goals over a 2 year period at Lincoln
Only 25 of those in the league over two seasons, the rest in the EFL Trophy or EFL Cup. So that’s 12.5 L1 goals a year and he’s played out wide more often than in the centre.
It’s much better than we’ve signed so far, but on paper we are still well short of replacing the 40 goals scored last season by Taylor, McGeehan, Chilvers, Fevrier, Ihionvien, Akinde, Cooper, etc. and that was 30 goals short of what we need to get promoted.
It’s not good enough if we are serious about reversing the decline. DC/NC are our last chance and should be given all the available funds to get us out of this mess.

Brad gone to Peterborough for a substantial six figure fee.
By my maths, we just need to sell another £30M worth of academy stars and produce 4 or 5 quality players a year to get us promoted and the academy will have got us back to where we were before the folly started.
Yet the madness still continues and we sell more and more players to fuel another season of this perennial failure.

Obviously I’m kind of disappointed to lose Bradley, but delighted for him. Posh have an excellent reputation for developing young talent (often ours it would seem), so I’m expecting plenty of add-on payments as Bradley continues his journey up the football league.
I like the look of McDonnell and particularly Scully too - straight into the starting lineup for him today perhaps?

Wessex I am unsure whether Scully signed in time similarly McDonnell but they will be two good additions to the team.
Lovely day weather wise.
I am feeling confident about the result and looking forward to the game.
