Happy League 2023/24 Week 32 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 9th March 15.00 22:43 - Mar 2 with 3774 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 31 results

NOTTINGHAM FOREST 0 LIVERPOOL 1

Darwin Nunez came off the bench to score a dramatic 99th minute winner and send Liverpool four points clear at the top of the Premier League. Everyone predicted a win for Liverpool, but it is well done to basher2010 for being the only one to get it spot-on.

BIRMINGHAM CITY 3 SOUTHAMPTON 4
Southampton had to twice come from behind before beating 10-man Birmingham with a 96th minute winner. Nobody had this spot-on, but 23 did get the outcome.

MILLWALL 1 WATFORD 0
Millwall made it two wins out of two under new boss Neil Harris as Zian Flemming's 3rd minute free-kick was enough for three points against struggling Watford. That goal would also give a 9 members 3 points, and a further 7 the outcome.

NORWICH CITY 1 SUNDERLAND 0
Josh Sargent scored his 11th goal of the season as Norwich take their unbeaten run to six, to stay firmly in contention for a Championship play-off place. Only 2 had this spot-on, and another 22 got the outcome, with an incredible 15 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 0 IPSWICH TOWN 2
Ipswich returned to the Championship's automatic promotion places for the first time in a month, with their fifth successive win. Well done to gerry_us for being the only one to get this spot-on, and a further 14 had the outcome.

FLEETWOOD TOWN 4 WIGAN ATHLETIC 2
Fleetwood secured their first win in six matches to give their League One survival hopes a boost. Nobody had this spot-on, though 8 did get the outcome.

SHREWSBURY TOWN 0 BLACKPOOL 2
Goals from Karamoko Dembele and Hayden Coulson secured Blackpool a victory to keep their League One play-off hopes alive, as Shrewsbury only manage to have one shot on target. Only 2 got this spot-on, and another 12 had the outcome.

GRIMSBY TOWN 1 FOREST GREEN ROVERS 0
Harvey Rodgers scored the 8th minute winner to give Grimsby their first win in eight matches, with their only shot on target, as Forest Green fail to have a shot on target. Only 2 had this spot-on, and a further 7 got the outcome.

TRANMERE ROVERS 1 SUTTON UNITED 0
24 shots with 13 on target, including a missed penalty, for Tranmere, but they had to wait until the 87th minute for Rob Apter's winner. A great 8 got this spot-on, and another 11 had the outcome.

WALSALL 3 DONCASTER ROVERS 1
Walsall claimed a fifth successive victory to climb to sixth in League Two. Well done to Colukev for being the only one to have this spot-on, and a further 17 got the outcome.

The 10 game guest picks should be the defining weeks in a season, when the big scores are made, but they have often disappointed this season, until this week. Late winners for Liverpool, Southampton, Norwich and Tranmere put a different complexion on games, to give us the best 10 game week of the season so far. This was despite 3 pointers not being that easy to find, with the 26 in total being mainly due to the 17 achieved by Millwall and Tranmere. With the 10 games producing 7 homes and 3 aways, it was the 152 outcomes in total that made it such an outstanding week, with everyone getting at least 5 points. The extra added time in games this season seemed to have lessened the chance of a 1-0 scoreline, but that proved not to be the case this week, with four games ending in that score. Former double Premier champ noah4x4 used that 1-0 to great effect when winning those titles, even though a lack of them this season has not stopped him getting more outcomes than anybody in both divisions, the struggle for 3 pointers had put him on the verge of relegation, That was until today, when staying honest to those 1-0's, he got the wins for Millwall, Norwich and Tranmere, and the Blackpool 2-0 spot-on, and five outcomes, to make him the weeks top scorer with an absolutely fantastic 17 points. That is just 1 point short of the all time record, with only another 1-0 for Grimsby stopping from having a full house. Two members did well to have three 3 pointers, they were basher2010, who got the wins for Liverpool, Blackpool and Tranmere, and Madeira163, who had the 1-0 wins for Millwall, Norwich and Grimsby. They each also got four outcomes, to give them both a brilliant 13 points. Two members had two 3 pointers, they were mfb_cufc and ghughes11, who both got the wins for Millwall and Tranmere, with the former also having six outcomes to give him a useful 12 points, and the latter also getting five outcomes to give him an excellent 11 points. Best of those to have one 3 pointer were thrillseeker and durham_exile, who both got the Millwall 1-0, and concordman, who had the Grimsby 1-0, They each also got seven outcomes, to give them all a superb 10 points. A special mention for Sector4 and TheRams, who both got a decent eight outcomes.

U'sual Champions League Just a reminder to those who have yet to post their predictions. The Round Of 16 2nd leg games start on Tuesday 5th March, with a 20.00 deadline.

Happy Cup Congratulations to concordman on winning this competition for the second time in the last three seasons, by beating durham_exile 6-5 in the final, that was decided on outcomes.

In the Premier The superb week for concordman has made it look even more certain of him getting the League and Cup double for the second time in three seasons. Six outcomes for blueeagle keeps him in the other Charity Shield spot, and that looks like being his best chance of honours this season. The season best week for mfb_cufc moves him up three places to third. Another decent week for RSCOSWORTH, that included having the Millwall 1-0 spot-on, but he drops a place to fourth. The superb week for thrillseeker keeps him in fifth. Even though unitedwhites was another to get the Millwall 1-0 spot-on, he drops a couple to sixth. The decent amount of outcomes for Sector4 keeps him in seventh. The excellent week for ghughes11, that takes him to 26 points for the last three weeks, has moved him up a place, and should have made him safe from relegation. This was until noah4x4 came up with his absolutely fantastic week, that has now given him every chance of avoiding the drop. Three weeks ago oxfcolu got an excellent 10 points, that I said at the time "makes him a short price to be spending a second season in the Premier". Not such a short price now, but like the U's, survival is in his hands. An impressive seven outcomes for Moor_Pinot, but it has not improved his chance of avoiding the drop.

In Division One The lead has changed for the fourth week running, with the brilliant week for basher2010 moving him back to the top. He takes over from Daniel yet again. Although he drops to second, his six outcomes improved his chance of automatic promotion, by now having a 9 point cushion back to bwildered in third. By both having the Tranmere 1-0 spot-on, BFG and Lewis_1 remain fourth and fifth. The decent week for Colukev, thanks to thet good Walsall 3-1 prediction, moved him up a place into the final play-off spot. Six outcomes for Jorash63, but he moves out of the top six for the first time since Week 10. A decent week for Tropical_Us, that included having the Tranmere 1-0 spot-on, was still not quite enough for him break into the play-off places, as he remains 1 point short. With only 54 games left to the season, the battle for the wooden spoon would normally be just about decided, but not this season. In fact the superb week for durham_exile moved him up a place to his highest position since Week 3, and has given him an outside chance of making the play-offs, as those at the bottom have remained competitive. That is showed also by Madeira163, as his brilliant week moved him up a couple of places, and took him off the bottom, after spending the last eight weeks there. Even though he picked a great set of fixtures, and got Forest Green and Sutton to lose, by predicting them to win, this couldn't stop gerry_us dropping into the wooden spoon spot, despite also having that good Ipswich 2-0 prediction.

THE TABLES (226 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
