A man we thought was immortal ,proving we are not. For younger ones,he WAS Wales as we knew it ,in the 70s . A force of nature With him and Benny passing,I feel a part of me has died as represented our hopes and dreams . Our parents revered him I revered him. Gutted
Shocking news, one of the greatest rugby Fullbacks ever absolute legend on and off the field, I was lucky enough to play against him up at Tondu park where he was playing wing forward for Tondu and was still an incredible player, spoke to him after the game as well lovely man and very fit, he was still playing high level squash I must have been around 32/33 so he was 10/11 yrs older and he run us ragged.
So many well known well loved and respected people passing these last yrs, its very sad.

You were blessed Steve to have shared the pitch with him.
55 wales caps and 3 grand slams Played against England 10 times and never lost, scoring 5 tries. 8 lions caps winning series in NZ and SA Played into his 50s

…and was an orthopaedic surgeon!
Only 55caps is an eye opener, I know there were far fewer internationals in those days, still thought it would have been a few more.

RIP the great JPR.
A friend posted a pic of them together, must have been a heck of a surgeon with those hands.
A true gentleman I am glad to have seen play.

I was R, I was nowhere near a match for the player that he was , everything went through him, he scored at least one try he was pure class off and on the pitch.

Agree with you, when you hear 55 caps it doesn’t seem right because the guy was a legend, a real one con of Welsh rugby when it was in its golden age. He played for Wales for 13 years, however it was only the 5 nations and maybe a game against a touring team so 5 maybe 6 games at most per year. There were no tactical substitutions, no World Cup or Autumn international. I reckon these days if he’d been injury free, he’d have been good for at least these days would have to equate at least 135 caps probably more by the time the overseas tours every couple of years are factored in.
RIP

He tried to trick the cops when done for drink driving. He sucked on some copper coins thinking it would alter the reading on the breathalyser. Silly man. Great player in his time though.
Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Not sure the need to introduce that Ken We all make mistakes He was a good guy
When I went to Bridgend Boys’ Grammar school as an 11 year old he was the captain of the first 15 and already a phenomenon. I played with his youngest brother, Mike, through the years and therefore had the honour to meet him many times. Playing touch rugby with a Welsh and British and Irish Lions legend was surreal.
The most fearless player ever. RIP

He could have killed people if he hadn’t been stopped.

Whether it's true or not, not really the thread for it.
I disagree. If he had carried on and killed people that would be ok? Good job he was stopped. As i said, great player. RIP.
