Marti…… questions 18:06 - Dec 26 with 3737 viewsLblock

Couldn’t have hoped for a better start.
Always going to have dodgy patches - it’s in these we find out what he’s made of but here’s my questions

Most think he’s the new Messiah - when we get relegated what makes you think he’ll actually stay and rebuild this rotten carcass of a club?
(I ask as he’s never stayed anywhere too long so far in his career and if he really is a genius surely others bigger and better will be in for him)

What makes you think he has the awareness and contacts to attract the players we need in January (even if the billionaires release two Bob and a conker in funds)??

If we lose another 3 in a row does his position come under scrutiny???

And finally does he really drink Estrella????

For me he’s doing an okay job.
If he has a blueprint to get us out of this mess, at this level or below, then I’d sign him on a 4 year deal with huge buy out clauses but performance break clauses on the clubs side (offset with performance bonuses for him).
I do question if he has sufficient knowledge of this level to succeed but that’s just me being a Little Englander.

We’re basically relegated as far as I am concerned so how about planning for the future as a club?
Maybe we can’t as the Billionaires are off totally, if so then we need to plan for that.

If Marti is the man then let’s have a plan

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

"I do question if he has sufficient knowledge of this level to succeed but that’s just me being a Little Englander".

I'm very worried about the state of us but I just wanted to say that Marti's assistant Xavi Calm did spend a season at Birmingham City, as a development and then first team coach, during Pep Clotet's tenure.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Marti himself also at Millwall too.

I’m in the don’t know camp about him at this time especially with these bunch of two Bob vvankers wearing our shirt , now we did win 3 in a row but I thought he picked the wrong team for Plymouth and got the subs wrong against Wednesday, both those games were huge going into the festive period and we blew it , those 2 games will bite us on the rrrs
I’ve written this season off and I look forward to shifting a lot of the crap out and hopefully seeing what players Marti wants to bring through for league one

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Hardly
This has been coming before Ainsworth took over , this rot started with Warburton in January of 2022 , a lot of the same players are still here and have now gone through 3 managers
You can also point the finger at our player recruitment over the years it’s been truly abysmal and blowing what funds we did have on old players like Hendrick and Gray
The chickens have come home to roost this year

Agree the players are weak mentally and physically but Ainsworth blowing our budget on Begovic , Cook , Colback and Fox is one of the main reason why we're in this position.

The bloke will quite rightly go down as one of worst managers in our history and I find it amazing that people still try and stick up for him

Whole club needs a clear out from top to bottom and a clear short medium and long term plan to be made as at the moment all we're doing is drifting along

I would start by getting a DOF

Only one player who started today, Begovic, was signed by Ainsworth.

You could argue Smyth too, but two managers signed him so I’m not going to count him.

His signings were cheap and we were skint long before he arrived. We were not on the verge of signing Gabriel Batistuta and he scuppered it. He handled the situation in exactly the same way as every manager since Beale has.

As Norf as said, and as I said some time ago but have now U-Turned twice on, no manager on earth can get a tune out of these players as a collective.

Blaming the manager, of any persuasion, lets a deep culture of stupidity, hubris, and lack of expertise at the top ownership level of this club off the hook.

Can’t live with them, can’t live without their money.

Both things can be true, clubs recruitment has been abysmal and Ainsworth simply had no clue what he was doing.

I'd kill to have a player like Gray, on a season long loan, who scored ten goals for us in one season without even being a massively regular starter.

How do you legislate for their first goal? Injury time in a relegation six-pointer against London rivals. There are literally no Rangers players on our right-hand side! Then when the inevitable cross comes in, the myriad of players on the left-hand side fail to clear it or prevent their player scoring. It's the kind of defending an under-11s would feel bad about. You just can't legislate for this level of shit.

I like Marti. He's tinkered too much recently but I have faith he'll get it right given time. But even Jesus would struggle turning the likes of Kakay into a Championship defender. While we play these players, we will continue to sink.

The manager is not a Messiah. We were third bottom when he arrived and we have never got out of the relegation zone and remain third bottom. There is no Messiah at the club, only a mess.

Those all good questions LB

As for Thief Went Ace sticking around if we go down, I've wondered this too, I don't have an answer more clever than his CV as a manager of a relegated club not being especially employable.

I'd honestly be intrigued to see what we look like after a season in L1getting coached the shìt out of, playing dog basic teams with dog basic managers... But like you I'm not convinced that will come to pass if we go down.

Honeymoon period is over Marti. First half I could see a semblance of a plan in that we were trying to play deep, draw Millwall out make them run around a lot then attack them when they get tired. It wasn’t a bad plan on paper and it worked to a certain degree until we conceded a soft goal (again) just before half time (again). Second half we were just simply rubbish.

As for the dogsh1t teams with dogsh1t managers in L1. I think you might be in for a surprise.

Marti C is obviously a decent manager. We can all see the improvements he's made on the pitch straight away (I didn't see today) . He's better than Ainsworth. That's a good start. He's figuring the club out, the players and wants to play good football albeit with limited players. I'm sure he'll have contacts within the game or players he's keeps an eye on. He seems like a guy committed to football. I can't see him playing in a rock band and releasing albums on the clubs socials that's for sure.
We just need to concentrate on this season, staying up at all costs. I don't think dropping to L1 is an option.
There had to be some long term thinking behind his appointment otherwise we should have just got Warnock. Let's get a couple of loans in, and maybe some loans out. Put the last 3 games behind us and move on. Im not certain we will lose the next 3 games. I reckon at least 4 points from the next 3 games. If he does lose then yeh his position will be under scrutiny. Its under scrutiny now tbf.

Occasional providers of half decent House music.

Marti certainly isn’t the messiah because if he was he wouldn’t be at our circus shitshow, but if anyone genuinely thinks he is the problem here then I suggest you go do something else with your spare time. I haven’t agreed with every decision he has made, far from it. But there is a bigger picture here than MC. Much much bigger.

We need to hope he does stay with us just for some stability whether we are relegated or not.
I’m sure a few will turn on him in the next week, probably after a loss at Ipswich . But take a step back for a minute ffs

Weird take! Although Begovic had a suicidal rick today for their second goal, which killed us, he's performed very well overall. Cook's patchy availability has been frustrating, but he's helped shore up a very poor defence, as has Fox. Colback has been a very mixed bag, but it isn't those players who are responsible for our predicament but inadequates/ liabilities like Dunne, Kakay, Dozzell and Dykes.

The club has been financially mismanaged for 2-3 years, and the disinvestment in a playmaker and two strikers has been criminal. If we can't strengthen to give ourselves a fighting chance from January, as I've said, a number of staff should consider their positions above and beyond these piss-poor players.

Poll: How many points will we take from our next 3 games (S'land H, M'bro H, Leeds A)?

Whats Fox done again? When was he last fit?
Colback the same, looked like a walking red card when fit.
Smyth has pace but nothing else.
Begovic, mixed bag.
Cook looked decent when fit

Thats a shocker of a transfer window. Opportunity to improve the side wasted yet again.

Begovic, Cook, Colback and Fox aren't the cause of our current predicament! They may not have been the dream signings we'd hoped for but they were solid enough given the backdrop of the flimsy side we had.

Ainsworth biggest failing was not insisting we move out more of the existing dross we had in the squad. The problem was, no one was interested because, for the most part, they are absolutely pony with poor attitudes and lack of backbone. No other team wanted them. As a result, we kept them and are now struggling at the foot of the table. What a surprise!

Pep would struggle to keep this lot up.

The Club failed in not replacing GA at the end of last season basically but perhaps they were waiting for MC to become available - who knows.

This.

If people can't tell by now the issue lies with the players and has done for two years...

Poll: How old is everyone on here?

1
Marti…… questions on 11:16 - Dec 27 with 1938 viewsbosh67

Our squad is that decent looking used car that people buy but never keep. Looks okay but has had five owners in a few years and broken down on everyone continuously.

Never knowingly right.
Poll: How long before new signings become quivering wrecks of the players they were?
