Football Regulation Proposals 07:52 - Feb 23 with 3012 views | DWQPR | Reading the outline proposals, particularly such things as fairer distribution of wealth of PL money and also the need for each club to provide viable business plans each year, could this part especially see the death nell of FFP? Can a viable business plan include additional shareholder funding for player investment? Certainly interesting that the EFL are all for it and the PL are not so keen. Now part of this should also be addressing the Cat1 v The Rest academy bias.

Football Regulation Proposals on 08:12 - Feb 23 with 2956 views | Esox_Lucius | Since the government took a strong interest in how football is run the clubs & associations have been trying to clean their act up by themselves but running into resistance from those at the top who are sucking in the most money. The new regulator has already closed off the possibility of top clubs joining closed shop competitions (Super League?) and we have seen Chelsea have their transfer contract shenanigans curtailed. With Man City about to be forensically dissected over their finances in court, you might well be right David; the death knell for FFP is looking ever more likely. I too hope that the EPPP is rejigged in a more equitable way to allow clubs at all levels to produce their own players without being at the mercy of richer predators.

Football Regulation Proposals on 08:54 - Feb 23 with 2856 views | SimonD | FFP is a UEFA "initiative" not domestic, so I'd not have thought any change in the distribution of broadcasting rights from the Premier League to the Football League would signify the end of it. However it would make it easier to adhere to our version of its implementation. Historical president would suggest that some clubs, including ours, would still look to spend as much as possible. EPPP is a different matter. Some Premier League clubs may be pleased to see the back of it too. At the moment, Arsenal are concerned that Chelsea are stealing away one of their up-and-coming talents; being Cat 1 does not stop that happening.

On a related note, how much of this is seen as "government interference" in the way football is run in England? FIFA states that FAs must operate without any influence from the state. Is this not a situation whereby the UK government, through an independent commission, is implementing rules upon football clubs, and therefore the associations that these clubs are bound by? And, even if it is, can one just assume that FIFA will turn a blind eye to it like they do with a few other countries as these countries provide significant funds for FIFA?

FIFA need to be reminded who makes the law in this country and that our laws should be free from FIFA interference (not to mention their record of corruption)
