Banning fans from entering the stadium with coins on their person

Sheff Utd threatened with closing their kop end due to fans standing

captains fantastic
Poll: SWEET F'IN CAROLINE. Played every half time

Saw Standard Liege play earlier in the year. Completely cashless and all pre paid cards.

Probably the real reason for the ban. Just wish they weren’t so snide about it and consulted fan groups and the FSA.

Edit: I see this only affects away fans!

After we played Sunderland I read on Twitter our fans were praised for not throwing coins down on Sunderland fans below. Sounds like it is an issue with other clubs fans going there.

Loads of stuff thrown by Birmingham and they were winning.

is this their version of a northern tax? can't be right, it is not illegal to have coins and away fans are stuck up in the gods up there. an olympic discus thrower would struggle.

Yeah a few grounds are now.

It’ll slowly move onto the pre pay method so the clubs can gain interest on pre paid systems like Oyster cards do.

I thought there was something fishy about those Oyster cards.

Fine as long as the infrastructure/wifi/connection is up to scratch in a crowded situation. Norwich was indeed cashless, and I spent five minutes trying to buy one programme while the geezer waved his card machine around in the air trying to get a better signal.

It was away fans that were throwing coins down on the home fans below that was the main cause of the ban,but surely if the stewards did their jobs it should be easy to spot the idiots doing it.
All the coins confiscated will go to a local charity I think.Still wrong that they should punish everyone for the actions of a few idiots though.

from what i can gather, you will be searched, and if any coins found, will be given to a charity of their choice.

You can deny entry to private property for any reason as long as you don’t discriminate, I suppose. I would hope it was made clear when the ticket is sold.

I suppose it's down to who decides what discrimination means.

Well it's the start of the end for buckets being rattled at half time to raise money to save football clubs.

While we're on the matter, my urine is boiled when spectators are required to leave food in bins before being allowed entry into events, so that they can be fleeced once inside. I can understand bottles and cans, but food?

Yep, and after being treated as grown ups for a while, we're no longer allowed the lid on a bottle of drink again !

Yep, this really does boil my pish. Bought a bottle of water at the game on Saturday, but had to throw most of it away because apparently at 51 years of age, I can't be trusted with a bottle top

The sad thing is, there are 51 year knobheads who would have thrown it.

But let’s be honest it’s not about that. It’s the contempt we are all held in and marketing opportunities in manipulating our match day habits.

a full bottle of drink without a lid will do just as much damage if thrown.

a pointless exercise.
