I shall make a guess here and suggest that there has been a population increase in Cardiff, Newport and Monmouthshire? U.K's current population. https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/uk-population/ [Post edited 28 Jun 2022 17:00]

I thought so, I guess the affluent area's close to the English border are very appealing?

Building proposals/plans for the future are interesting! Now that would see an incredible increase in Swansea's population surely. Extremely worrying also, the reaction from Ty Felin Surgery at says it all. 1,160 housing units on land west of Llangyfelach Road and north of Heol Ddu, Penderry 1,000 in Uplands, Brynmill, Sandfields, plus High Street and The Kingsway in the city centre 850 on land north-west of junction 46 of the M4, Felindre 800 on land north of Waunarlwydd/Fforestfach 750 south of the A4240, Penllergaer 750 on fields north of Garden Village 750 at Tregof Village/Llansamlet in Swansea Vale 720 on land south of Glanffrwd Road, Pontarddulais 675 north of Clasemont Road, Morriston 525 along Fabian Way " https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/thousands-new-homes-swansea-would-

6 or 7,000 units over a number of years may or may not increase the permanent population if you consider young people leaving home and the Swansea area, what happens to the student population and the birth rate etc.

I do not know how this will up but it looks more than 6,000 - 7,000 houses. Quote: "but A big chunk of the proposed 17,100 houses are earmarked for the north-west of Swansea, which has a shortage of housing land, and bosses at Ty’r Felin Surgery are worried about the implications."

I tend to agree with the surgery, all too often the infrastructure is not addressed by planning departments so schools/doctors/hospitals get overwhelmed.

I read that very article whilst waiting in Singleton Hospital and an old 80+ year old ex- Neath Valley miner with common sense summed it up perfectly by questioning where are the jobs, where is the industry, where is the road capacity and where are the services? He then went on to explain the impossibility he had to get a G.P appointment. It's all about seeing the obvious of what'll happen, because to quote a physics law that is appropriate in these very circumstances "to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction".

To quote an old colleague of mine, if you do nothing, nothing will happen.

Gorseinon G.P surgery would certainly feel the same with a 15% increase in patients (and risen further) from the years 2013 to 2018!

There are a lot of English people living down Gower constituency especially from Southern England. A case of for example selling a modest terraced house on Carthew Road Hammersmith for £1,250,000 and relocating and buying a twice the sized detached house down here and having approx. £700,000 to spare. I suspect the 17,500 house proposal would be attractive to incomers from across the bridge?

Same up here. Southern Englanders are buying everything up. Local youngsters have no chance.
