...the players go for their summer hols, anyone ever bump into one of 'em on a beach / bar / chicken ranch somewhere?

As I've mentioned on another board or two....1977,myself and a mate on a pre-Christmas break popped into a bar in Benidorm, low and behold, the whole Nottm Forest squad was in there. An enjoyable afternoon / evening of solid amiable drinking, notable for the loudness of the Scottish accents (particularly Archie Gemmill) and the number of prostitutes who found Peter Shilton attractive.

On the other side of the coin, I seem to recall that someone from the club had to be despatched to a Devon seaside resort to sign a holidaying Ian Evatt, back in the day...

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I met Jamie Mackie two years ago in Sorrento, just after he’d retired. He spent ages chatting to me even though I’d approached him to wish him good luck whilst he was having lunch with his wife and another couple. His mate was an also ex-pro, who looked familiar but I have no idea who he was and didn’t want to ask! He was pleasant too. Mackie was a top, top guy and sent a couple of bottles of Peroni over to my table for me and my other half which was much needed in that heat! It was clear that Rangers meant a lot to him. My other half was a bit annoyed if left her handbag unattended at the table whilst I went and sat with them though!

Great story.

Every time I hear about someone who's been lucky enough to speak to Mackie all say the same thing about him. Would love to meet him.
