But again that is an error here as opposed to Manning’s being an error. We can’t use other referees poor decisions as precedent, the laws of the game are clear.
I will say though keepers get an awful lot of leniency.

Watched it live. As soon as they replayed it on tv from behind the goal, you could see it was a blatant a red card. Sanchez wacked him in the face with his hand, and also took him out with a high knee and leg across his body

Now dont get me wrong i played in an era where this would have been looked upon as a fruity advance, but referees must start shaping up. That ref Tuesday had his card out so quick he didnt even think about it. This one could have reviewed.

I don’t understand the quickness complaint.
If it is a clear red, which it was, then the quicker the better so players aren’t using the situations uncertainty to try to escalate it to make it seem worse.

Think it looked like he was far too eager.

Im not sure it was a straighr red or were the club hence appeal. My point is he could have deliberated a few steps longer.

I thought it a straight red but still, it wasn't as bad as this Sanchez challenge.
The problem is that when you give the referee the option to give a red card there’s always the possibility he will. For the record as soon as I saw mannings challenge I knew he was in triuble - by the look of his reaction straight after I think he did too.
Each time I go to Bedd - au........................
