Bonymaen 66 !! Not saying its related in anyway , but driving through the enterprise park I was surprised to see how many "essential " shops were open . In Bonymaen the council have a large presence in the area upgrading tenants gardens , I can't say I've seen one mask let alone social distancing .

They publicise the infection rates and positives, but do they actually say in which areas the deaths take place?
Looking at the comments in the papers and to a degree on here, there are people (in my opinion) who completely underestimate the seriousness of the pandemic.

Is that your opinion or a fact, terrible if true.
It's true. There is one in Newtown that has it, another in Welshpool. That's just Powys.

I'm not downplaying it but there weren't 37 deaths today, the news said many of those died at the weekend but the reporting hadn't caught up until today.
Maybe cases are rising so fat because the Senedd were slow to do something. We can't just open back up on the 9th, not if cases are still rising. They need to do something long term and people will have to suck it up.
PS, when you talk about students, it's not just Uni, this is spreading in, it's schools too.
You do realise that all deaths are recorded as Covid for anyone who had a positive Covid test within 28 days prior to passing away?
That does not take into account any underlying medical issues or illnesses present. Personally I think that’s outrageous and I’m guessing that at least 20% of deaths could be attributed to other things.
I’m not a naysayer in regards to this virus but some perspective is needed, especially when looking at the deaths data. Positive cases on the increase is clearly a concern but it’s evident the virus is not mutating into something worse, as some claim it is.
The news is too much, virtually unwatchable. People will be scared of their own shadows soon. Here we are nearly 10 months into having Covid in our communities and I still don’t know a single person who’s had it, let alone died from it.
Yes there are plenty of at risk groups based on age and lifestyle coupled within underlying medical issues. They do need to be protected. For the remaining 99% of people not in those categories it is a mild virus.

I’m in my late 30’s and I’m in decent nick. Not over the top but I watch how I look after myself. I have a mortgage to pay and a young family to support. Work is sporadic. If my home is at risk, my kids financial futures, I’m going to be naturally looking at the bigger picture. Life will continue after this. I will not casually allow my family’s future to be compromised because of something that won’t kill me or anyone in my household. I think people need to look at it from everyone’s perspective. That’s mine, and that’s why I’m saying, get the vulnerable sheltered. Let the rest of us with commitments to get on with our lives.

99% really. Speak to a family whom covid has hit lethally.
Our problem is people underestimating covid.
Our comfortable safe little empire world shattered by a pandemic.
Have a look at the rate in France right now .
Still,we kid ourselves and it is killing us
Indeed to lose someone is like a knife through the heart. We mourn every loss, but we must not lose sight of the fact that Covid is not the only killer out there, Sadly many are forgetting this.

There's been confirmed cases in Dwr Y Felin so that's Cadoxton and Bryncoch.

How are you going to shelter the vulnerable? Does it mean they will have to be locked down for ages while you go about your merry way?
What about NHS staff and other frontline workers who don't have a choice in what they do? They have families they wish to protect too.The NHS will be overwhelmed and deaths will rise.Age or physical fitness is no guarantee of survival either

There are several different ways of measuring the mortality rate as the article in the hyperlink explains. The governments preferred measure is the 28 day rule and the total number of deaths is approx 45k, the ONS record deaths where Covid19 is mentioned on the death certificate regardless of test result and has the figure at approx £59k - this is potentially subjective and the total excess death figure as provided by the ONS is nearer 65k - this may eventually prove to be the more accurate figure.
I know a couple of people who have had it, some have been barely affected while others have been hit for 6. I know one guy who is late 30s, very fit, slight no underlying dudes who is still ill months later, I know of another guy who is 40 and he’s in intensive care while a third person I know who is in his 50s ( a big lad and very unfit) who felt rough for 2 days and that was it. There’s no rhyme or reason to how it effects people, but the older people and those with underlying health conditions are more susceptible. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51768274

You also have to consider the effect on stress and mental health which undoubtedly causes far more harm (and probably a lot more deaths) than any virus ever could. In the act of protecting people against the virus you could be killing them of something else. Those people in the care homes are dying of loneliness and a sense of abandonment.
The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
Too many people think that if you get it, it's a death sentence and they will die in a week or two, when in reality 99% get over it ,I think it's really being blown out of proportion, and I do have some one close who have had it

I don't believe it has caused a significant rise in suicides

A lot of people will recover from it, but it looks like the virus could cause longer term health problems.
