For someone who probably got her big break in The Avengers for being a looker (and then some!) she never traded on it, afterwards going on to prove she genuinely could act.
Meanwhile I heard not so long ago that her character name in The Avengers was chosen to signify M(en) Appeal.
Super, lovely actress and I've been a great admirer of her for so many years in a variety of roles. Possibly my favourite memory was seeing her at the National Theatre in Tom Stoppard's Jumpers in 1972, alongside Michael Hordern. She was simply dazzling; at one point singing wearing a star spangled outfit and perched in a crescent moon, in another, wearing a provocative flapper dress and memorably (blush), a very funny nude scene that took place whilst Hordern was distracted, pondering the existence of God amongst other things.
