McBurnie on 22:14 - Aug 17 with 1811 views | Jacket | Bit simplistic to blame the striker is it not. The supply was nonexistent. To be fair, Monk's tactics were spot on. At least we know we can defend. For me, mid-table looks nailed on - can't see us trouble the play-off spots or the relegation zone.
McBurnie on 22:25 - Aug 17 with 1767 views | sherpajacob | Based on having seen Sheffield utd, PNE and Brum Enormous difference between championship and PL is the quality of strikers and finishing in general. A fit and in form Bony would threaten Dixie deans record in this division. Even Jordan Ayew would get 20+ goals. I can't see McBurnie getting double figures. We desperately need more striking options more than any other area of the squad..

He's being paid big money compared to me, to be a professional footballer, which is the comparison being made. Apparently it's not fair to criticise him if I couldn't play lone striker myself.

Agreed. I thought Ollie McBurnie battled hard despite having poor service. Their pressing tactics and physicality disrupted our attempts to play a quick passing game. Tom Carroll will have to improve on his ability to retain or shield the ball when put under pressure. Jay Fulton has put a good shift in but I think he lacks mobility and the quickness of thought for how the manager wants to play.

So it's about the money he;s paid against the money you are paid then? Give the guy a break boy, just like all of them in the situation we are in. It's the wrong time to go acting the tvvat.
McBurnie on 22:54 - Aug 17 with 1622 views | giantstoneater | I think most of our team if they looked back over the game will understand areas where they need to improve as a lot of them were guilty of giving the ball away cheaply. McBurnie is one he needs to pass earlier rather than run with the ball and then get into the box, he of course needs a better service than our widemen gave him tonight Asuro and McKay weak on the ball tonight as was Cellina and our repeat offender TC . Olly did battle away upfront with little support. Above all GP needs the backing of the board in the next 13 days of so.

The money he's paid means he should be held to a higher standard of performance as a footballer compared to me, yeah. He had a bad game. Yes, it's hard when your team isn't playing well, but he didn't cover himself in glory flailing through the air, misplacing simple passes, and getting into arguments with the refs. Hope Potter has got him on the weights, he's got the frame to be a much more effective player with some mass. Not like he has any pace to lose.
McBurnie on 23:15 - Aug 17 with 1542 views | Rancid | I can't believe he's getting pelters. If you know the slightest thing about football you'd know a striker will only score or perform well with service. Our midfield gave him nothing so we got nothing from him. He's not Danny Graham who would make run after run and drag defences everywhere, he's a box striker who will score from crosses, tap ins, deflections and so on. We need the new lad on loan to strike up a partnership with him too as he's the only bit of flair and creativity we have in our ranks who will assist Ollie.

... he also has apart to play in being in the right places to receive opportunities. He makes so many poor movement decisions. He has to start making space for himself and others to exploit. TBF with Carroll and Fulton in midfield no striker is going to get much service. Having seen Routs play central midfield I can't believe he wasn't retained and played there.

It's all about getting familiarized with your team mates and vice versa and once that happens then those poor runs might turn into goalscoring chances. Totally agree about Carroll but think Fulton has something to offer even though he was gash tonight.

Agreed. His constant moaning and shouting at referees also gets on my nerves. You are a lucky boy so fecking enjoy it and show us what you can do. We certainly need another striker. McKay out of the game for me tonight, but we have options wide already in the squad.

He had loads of ball, and failed consistently to retain it which in turn puts the whole side under pressure.

Can anyone suggest what might happen if he gets injured ?
