Portsmouth away - travel 08:25 - Jul 7 with 4233 viewsdalefan

I am thinking of going to Portsmouth for the weekend and travelling by train. The cost looks to be in the region of £112 .
Does anyone know the best route or how to get it cheaper.

Manchester to Euston - Virgin Trains.
Tube across London.
Waterloo to Portsmouth - South West Trains.

Try the Virgin Trains sale on at the moment, tickets to and from Euston from £11 each way.
SWT tickets around £25 return.
All in - around £50.
Use train companies web sites, no extra charges. Don't use Trainline, charges fees.

If there is someone you travel to away games to on a regular basis. Have a look into the Two Together Railcard.

Have you got someone you can share with for your trips north?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Don't usually go on the coach so not aware of the prices, does anyone have a rough idea how much the coach will cost to Pompey?

Tangled up in blue.

I don't, I do get free travel into London and heavily discounted travel between London and the rest of the country. Not being a Billy no mates will be good though. First home match will actually be the Bu*y game. I will be going to the Portsmouth game though.

Make sure you introduce yourself at Fratton Park. I imagine there will be a few coming down for the game.

The last time we played away there in October 2013 I went on the club coach and it took around 6 hours and cost around £28. I regularly use the coach for away games and the prices haven't really changed much in the last few seasons.
If we are still using Stotts expect to set off around 7-30am and pay around £30 this time around.

Poll: Now the club has refused to move on sesaon ticket prices what will you now do?

I know someone who has asked and been told £30 (so good logic!).

Had this as a PM.

Hello, Pompey fan here. Just a warning to Rochdale fans intending to travel by train that there will be a major upgrade to Waterloo Station from 5-28 August which could cause serious disruption to services. Sorry, I couldn't get into the thread to post as I read message-boards but don't normally post on any, so a bit hopeless in that respect!
Further info is on the Web under "Waterloo Upgrade 2017".

Looking forward to a good match, and safe travelling for Rochdale fans whichever method they choose ☺.
