I've been a big critic, but he does have unbelievable potential. He looks like a gifted player that has never been properly coached, just told to use his natural pace and trickery to beat his man, get down the wing and get a cross in.

If Guidolin can coach a bit more awareness and nous into his game, he could be top class.

I think the signs are already there. After Jeff playing a bit part for most of last season, towards the end he came back like a new player after FG & Ambrosetti had worked on him for a few months. Same with Barrow who was absolutely shocking at home to Stoke in October but was transformed into a game changer by March.

Best form of defence is attack is the kind of cliche you'd hear in a cheesy film about Anerican football. It's not true at all.

No reason we can't play them both if that's the way we want to play, but it probably means dropping Gylfi or reducing him to being a workhorse deeper in midfield and playing Llorente and Baston. Basically old school 442. They are perfect wingers for that. Gylfi is ineffective without players to link with and we would need a deeper midfield to help cover the fullbacks.

Could be interesting. Who would be the two CM's though? Gylfi would need to be on the bench imo as you say

"Michu, Britton and Williams could have won 3-0 on their own. They wouldn't have required a keeper."
Poll: Hattricks

He could probably do it, as he plays the closing down role very well. He did it last season under Monk and I think for Iceland in the Euros. It wouldn't be the best use of his talent imo though

Wouldn't disagree with that. I'm chuffed he is having a new contract, because he looked much better towards the end of last season. I honestly think he has been coached lazily in the past, with managers happy for him to rely on pace. Bit of behind the scenes work and he looked a different player. Could be devastating for us with the right guidance

So playing 2 wingers who have blistering pace in the counter attack doesn't make the opposition full backs sit deeper? You're talking as if montero and barrow can't possibly track back when they blatantly do. I think guidolin seems to like having one out and out winger on the pitch and one that can come inside. This is why I think we've been linked with Chadli and the one from holland because Routledge is the one most suited to that role but isn't a specialist at it.

No absolutely it does, it also makes the opposition wingers sit deeper as not to expose the fullback. The problem comes when we lose possession. They both definitely improved towards the end of the season, but neither covers their fullback very well. That normally ends with Naughton or Taylor getting a slating for being exposed. They also don't come inside enough, which negates Gylfis threat.

I'd agree we are probably looking at one of them plus Routledge at the moment. I'm all for improving on him, but I'd be looking for a similar type of player who can finish, rather than pace out wide.

Ye i agree. I think with barrow and montero we have plenty of pace for when needed. We are desperate for a creative wide man who can come inside and link with siggy and who knows where the net is.
