Perfect, inexpensive and interested.

Undo some of the damage of the last 18 months.

True.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Now that Shelvey's gone - definitely.

The Brains Trust need another escape goat to latch on to.

I thought Taylor was the official escape goat this season. no? JdG can be next season's.

BTW, I'd have JdG back in a hearbeat too.

The thing is WOB... Is you and ECB are very articulate and knowledgeable respected posters on this forum.
However, the chink in ECBs armour is he's never seen the swans playing without being sober.
It causes him problems remembering the more subtle skills from the likes of JDG.
His favourite player is Russel Coughlin FFS. He's probably had a pint with him at half time.

It's just the internet, init.

Opinions Ichy, he ended up being sub a lot of the time towards the end of his contract here, did we want him back or didn't he want to stay? I don't know, yes he made impacts in games and scored goals, is he right for us now and would I want him back, not for me sorry.

Towards the end of his contact when he was more often a sub, a certain Mr Monk was manager. Enough said. There is another thread about when things started to go wrong and just maybe that was an early symptom of the changes that were to take place over the following year. I was disappointed that we made no attempt to retain JdG but Monk clearly had no interest in him or what he offered to our trademark style.

Under Laudrup, with Britton and de Guzman in the side, we had two players instinctively able to find a pocket of space to give whoever had the ball an immediate option of a pass and their constant movement was integral to our fluid football to the extent that it sometimes seemed like we had two extra players on the pitch.

F*ck me the cult of de Guzman is alive and well it seems. Good player for us and unjustly criticised during his time but please STOP portraying as some kind of midfield genius.

De Guzman (at Swansea) averaged 0.3 goals or assists per game.

For comparitive purposes:

Ki averages 0.2 goals or assists per game.

Gylfi averages 0.6 goals or assists per game.

I know he has an intangible effect with his ability to link play but my goodness he just isn't the creative force so many are portraying him as. I'd still have him back but a reality check is in order.

De Guzman would be no good for us at the moment in time. He isn't a type of player you want in a relegation scrap for sure. He hardly made a tackle for us in his 2 years here.

Hmmmm....maybe football's not your thing.

Clearly debating's not yours.

Can you really not see the point I'm making or are you pretending you can't for some sort of effect?

There are plenty of players who offer what JDG offers who will put their body on the line at least in a small way.

I agree with a few that his shirking (not proud of myself for using the word coward) blinded me and probably others to his pros but I really don't think he's going to change things for us at the moment. He's an addition to an already decent and cohesive team I believe. And we aren't at the moment.

The orthodox are always orthodox, regardless of the orthodoxy.

Sigurdsson would be more effective pushed forward with Leon and JdG just behind, then you can play effectively with one striker. You can't do that with Ki in JdG's position, we already have Leon to take the pressure off the midfield and back four so we don't need Ki's sideways and backwards passing or dwelling on the ball - JdG will receive it and push it straight to Gylfi rather than dwell on it or attempt a 30 yard pass/shot like JJS.

Heading for an operation, just what we need at this time. Is Darren Anderton available?

He's had his operation, should be training within 2 weeks, it was for hernia removal...

I'd get him back on loan, add some depth... with Ki struggling for form and Grimes not ready, leaving us with Cork, Britton and Siggy at the moment.

Should have happened 18 months ago. Is he still the same player though? Time will tell (assuming it goes ahead).

We need a body in after selling Jonjo and I like him, but one thing's for sure, he's not the messiah. Our troubles run a lot deeper than one central midfielder.

Undoubtedly. A midfielder we know who can move the ball quickly, pass accurately and create chances will help though.

It will if he's still the same player. I'm not saying he's not but if he hasn't played all season he's going to need time to get match fit at least. Good signing if it comes off, but let's not load too much expectation on him.

Curt on JDG

"I think Jonathan's name has come up with the current crop of players, but I'm not sure," said Curtis.

"He may be injured at the moment so I'm not sure if he's available.

"Jonathan served the club well and if he was available, I'm sure we would be interested."

This is what we need as we have lost JJS and Ki is right off form and in great danger of being the latest escaped goat. We are OK for defending midfielders with Leon and Corky but we could do with some extra experience to make sure. The worry for me it's the time he will take to get JDG match fit. A striker will be needed as well if Bafi goes as is being suggested.
Beggers can't be choosers however and there is no doubt that bringing in quality will be difficult in our present predicament.

Underrated footballing genius or overrated, lightweight fop. I'm somewhere in the middle, veering more towards the latter purely because of the ridiculous pedestal he's put on by the same people who thought Canas was a better footballer than Britton. Decent player, shithouse. Meh if he comes back but it's not something I'll worry about either way.

I don't think there has ever been one person on PS who thought Canas was a better player than leon.
