No longer in effect due to them being promoted so each premier league club now receives an unexpected additional 1.4 million pounds each.

Wouldn't it be nice if those clubs, including ours made a gesture to invest that money in to some form of national project, or individually locally, be it new or already underway. The money is new money to these clubs so won't be factored in to real time figures.

Just a thought.

Maybe use it to ensure all staff are paid a living wage and give stewards their first pay rise since the stadium opened.

A great point, living wage wouldn't cost that much extra for thise staff who only earn the minimum. Mind you all clubs in the premier league could do this anyway with the amount of cash they have.

Can you imagine the boost 1.4 million would make locally in the Swansea area regards a specific community project.

Wouldn't it be better for football on the whole if it was divided up between league one and two clubs with a condition that it is strictly spent on development of the clubs?

I thought the money is distributed to the other championship clubs? Why would premier league clubs get parachute money?

I am sure what is what used to happen another example of the premier league dictating although i think they have increased the payments to championship clubs considerably in the last deal could you imagine the difference 1 million pound would make to someone like Rotherham compared with man city.

There should be something to make sure that it goes into grassroots sports. It's silly that it goes back to PL clubs who are in general already cash rich.

It's not silly at all. The parachute money is money that is given by the PL, so clubs who go down are able to honour players contracts and without the parachute money those clubs could face financial trouble. Norwich no longer need those payments, so rightly the cash saved is redistributed among other pl clubs.

It's money given by the PL to a Championship team, so surely it should stay in the league regardless of whether a team returns back?

Pure greed that they've changed it to distribute back to PL clubs, I don't remember us complaining when it fell in our pockets when WBA bounced straight back.

You obviously don't understand what the payments are for. Imagine swansea going down with players on £30000-80000 a week, without those payments we'd be fooked. It's not given because a club is now in the championship, it's given so clubs don't go to the wall. Simple.

The money should be redistributed throughout the whole football pyramid, including grassroots.

It could make an enormous difference to facilities at lower levels instead of just inevitably going into the pockets of agents and players at PL level and therefore out of the game.

Unfortunately as well as Rotherham we have teams like Leeds QPR and the Basseys.

Would rather it given to grass roots football in Swansea.

The parachute payment is paid to Norwich, as part of the PL terms, after they were relegated. WTF would anyone think it should be given to other Championship teams, is beyond me.

Be good to see it used outside of making either the clubs or players richer, but I doubt it.

Spend it in a way that moves us even further ahead than the championship clubs.

Nobody gave a sh*t about us when we weren't in the Premier League as so we should take an equally selfish approach.

The larger the gap we open up over the Football League the better as far as I'm concerned

And yet the talents of joey, ben, and grimes have all been produced through the low budget model. This money should go to league 1 and league 2 clubs academy facilities. It is football investing in its future - and that future is a 92 club future in line with the traditions of the game.
