Adam Lallana has undergone surgery on his knee.
Saints have received a blow to their promotion hopes when it was revealed that Adam Lallana has had to have an operation on his troublesome knee and will be out for around six weeks.
The midfielder has been struggling since pre season and now the decision has been taken to sort it out through surgery, although it will be a blow to Saints plans they do have cover for the area and it could allow Joseph Mills to stake a claim or even switch Jason Puncheon to the left, another option would be to play Ryan Dickson in the wide left position, although it seemed that on Tuesday's showing it wont be Guly that makes the spot his own.
But of course Lallana will be missed with his skill for changing a game as he did in the Carling Cup against Bournemouth, he showed then that he was one of the few players in the Saints midfield that could really change the direction of a game and that will be a real loss.
However if Saints are to achieve promotion then they will suffer injuries and suspensions to key players at certain times and have to be strong enough to ride it, however they have players who can come in who are still better than most in the division so if a good manager can be found it should not be a problem.
