Lazy Journalism Makes Laudrup Easy Target

So here I am sat on the bus on the way to Liverpool and the trusty iPad tells me that Michael Laudrup is linked to both Arsenal and Man City this summer as they look to move on their under performing managers.

It clearly is slow news week as the Premier League takes a break (well bar our game) and that always makes for transfer or manager speculation.

Arsenal's surprise FA Cup defeat to Blackburn has increased the pressure on Wenger as his side got booed off at the Emirates leaving him facing his umpteenth season without a trophy and clearly on the wrong side of his watching supporters who vented their frustration and not for the first time this season

Meanwhile at the Ethiad Mancini finds his side falling further behind their city rivals by the week and having blown out of Europe at the first stage for the second season running. Hopes there rest on the FA Cup and even that could be short lived if Leeds pull off another shock today.

Outside of these two the football world all knows that Chelsea and Rafa Benetiz won't be together for long and you potentially have 3 of the top 6 clubs in the division looking for a new manager come the end of May

Over in Spain, Jose Mourinho has said his next job will be back in the Premier League and there will be a queue looking to secure his services but that still leaves two jobs at minimum (would you totally rule out Jose at Man Utd moving Fergie upstairs?) and thus the lazy journalism begins.

You can almost picture the scene of an impatient and bored sports editor demanding tenuous links of a manager doing well at a 'small' club who they can link with a bigger job.

There must have been tears in red top central when Paul Lambert started doing worse at Villa than Mcleish as there was one name they couldn't use and the appointment of 'Arry at QPR took away another one. So options are probably limited to our Michael to possible Steve Clarke at West Brom.

I don't think there's need to panic about the links just yet. If anything it's a strong praise for what we do at Swansea and further proof that even now we probably slip a little under the radar. After all our performances are not that much of a surprise to those who watch us week in week out are they?

Before the season ends there will be more links and more speculation for our manager and some of our players. Until it means anything take it all with the pinch of salt it deserves and know its just lazy journalists digging for an easy story.

Before I finish I also add that I laughed at the article from a Liverpool fan bemoaning they got Brendan and not Michael last summer. I laughed not just because he is probably right as Michael was an upgrade but let's be honest do you seriously think any of the clubs who wish they had him would have looked at him? I just can't see it personally and that is why I would always rather have a Huw Jenkins than a Mansoor or a Werner.
