LFW Pub Guide - The Pavilion Friday, 27th Jun 2008 22:03 by LFW For fans approaching from Kilburn and Harlesden The Pavilion is a decent option on the other side of Loftus Road to the green and Uxbridge Road. Name of pub: The Pavilion Location: Corner of North Pole Road and Wood Lane. Size: Big - two bars, a conservatory and outside area/smoking area. Selection of beers? The usual, lager, Guinness etc. I'm not an ale drinker so couldn't tell more beyond that. They do lots of wine for the ladies too. Price of drinks? Guinness is £3.50ish. Usual for the rest I would guess. How full does it get on a matchday? Gets a good crowd. How fit are the bar staff? Er..fit or fat? Depending on who you get - the service normally ranges between not quick and non existent. They're not a bad bunch but you’ll face a long wait. How long does it take to walk to the ground from there? Straight down Wood Lane and into South Africa Road. 15/20 minutes. Sky Sports/ESPN? Yes and a good few screens (3d even, although I don't see the point). Get the early for good seats as the positions of the TV's can be awkward. Suitable for away fans? I've seen them in there and normally ok. Unless you're from Luton. Suitable for families and kids? Yes. And er..um...travelling people too. What's the smoking situation? Used to be a right old fug house. Obviously not now but plenty of areas for a crafty one. Beer garden? A seated area outside between the car park and the conservatory. Not a piece of greenery in sight though. As far as pub toilets go, just how bad are these? This is an old fashioned boozer so the floors are always wet and always smells of piss. Obviously. Does it serve food and is it any good? Yes. Food can be hit and miss. At the moment it's on the rise after a slump but not as good as it has been. Mixed grill is a stonker though. Trendy modern bar, traditional pub or somewhere in between? Traditional all the way. Still has carpets even. Traditional customers too. I would suggest it's a slightly up market Wetherspoons. In one sentence why should people visit/steer clear of this pub? It's a boozer near Rangers. What more do you need to know? Any other business? Not many pubs in this neck of the woods. The North Pole is a one minute walk away but I never use it. The Pav isn't for all tastes but I like it for all that. You get all sorts in there and for that I am grateful. My main gripe is they got rid of the jukebox as the music they play is shite and too loud. -qprxtc Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
