Norwich losing heads, ref good and Morrisson lucky
at 10:50 9 Dec 2024

The Ellerslie lino was amazing I thought. Although the bloke behind me pointed out that he was actually just doing his job......:-)

It was great to see Naarch get rattled. I'm behind the goal in the Lower Loft and there were plenty of communication breakdowns/disagreements between Gunn and his defenders in the 1st half. In the 2d half we had them pinned back extremely deep for several periods. The stats are misleading in that they had over 67% possession but loads of that was their defensive third and they just couldn't get out. And when they did they kept fluffing their passes. Great to see the effect of Rangers' endless efforts to win every single 1st and 2nd ball

Sainz was an odious little greaseball all match.

It clearly the Ben Williams situation that's pissing Marti off most. He had another right dig (quite rightly) in his post match interview.

Williams virtually lived at the training ground last season when we had the best injury record in the league. Now he's in Dubai (WTAF?!?) and we have one of the worst if not THE worst.

Who let that happen?

It's absolutely chucking it down in NW London and looks like it'll be the same all morning.

TV Tech question ?

How old's the TV? The built-in apps are notorious for becoming outdated.

As others have said, you could try plugging in a streaming stick instead. I use a Roku (well three actually). Amazon do the Fire stick. There are alternatives.

He gave a little bow to the fans in the loft after the Stoke game. Nice touch.

Yes but that's what 5 points and 2 clean sheets does when you've been waiting for a win for 3 very long months.

I'm normally in the "let's wait to see where we are in February" camp but found myself getting very very worried after the Boro and Leeds games.

The other good thing about this week (as pointed out above) is the fact that we can see with our own eyes the fact that several of the summer signings are FINALLY getting up to speed.

That's good to know. What with them getting pumped and both Cardiff and Pompey conceding late levellers I'm happy with the results this weekend.

Good to hear.

And, to boil it down to its essentials, Clive's been pointing out that Nourry needs to communicate more because if he doesn't supply a narrative we'll make one up and assume the worst.

Human nature.

Rangers v the Oat Cake Eaters match thread

Nice one Nix.

As for the performance I also thought that there was a bit more coherence about it and there was a bit more threat than in the last couple of games. Although that's a very low bar, obvs. I also thought Madsen was a bit better pushed further up. Another low bar but other around me saw the same.

I went expecting to be completely exasperated but ended up staying back to applaud the players - Saito especially - and Marti.

Mark Warburton interview
at 09:07 17 Nov 2024

It's just all so ****ing depressing. Absentee owners who don't understand the football industry. A head of performance with two jobs who's based in Dubai. A head of recruitment who spends all his time watching QPR games. And a schoolboy running the show.

What I saw in Leeds was a team that would fail to win anything in League 1 let alone the Chapmpionship.

LDAC & other CODECs....... Well there's another rabbit hole...had to have a look.

I have a Galaxy S23 and had to put it into developer mode to get into the HD Audio menu.

The best I can get is Samsung's SSC which is 24 bit/48 Hz and up to 512 kbs

Not as good a LDAC (24 bit/96Hz and up to 990 kbs) - but better than the default setting.

Discontinuing the Chromecast Audio was a really stupid move. For anyone who already has amps and speakers it's a perfect way of bring them into the 21st century. Excellent audio quality and you can use any app (Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, Amazon Music etc etc etc). And you can group them in zones; except you don't have to bin all your old kit and spend £thousands getting locked into Sonos for the privilege. And have to use their shitty app (although I think they might have opened that up now). And wait for them to brick you kit to force you to buy the new stuff.

I have 2 x CCAs in use. I also bought 3 additional new old stock CCAs after they were discontinued. One's now with my son in Leeds (plugged into one of my spare amps and a spare set of speakers) and I have two in a cupboard.

Wired will always be better than bluetooth because of the losses from the latter.

At home, I connect my phone to my hifi via Google Audio; it directs the wifi signal from my router straight to the dongle in the back of my amp and from there into the amp itself via an optical connection. No BT involved.

Same with the kit on my car; in that case I stream from my phone but that then talks to the audio system via a wifi connection and not a BT one.

I only use BT for headphones as it's just so convenient; I'm always moving around and wires get in the way.

The surgeon who first had a look at my achilles had ruptured his playing badminton or squash (can't recall which) against his nephew. Desk job, bad posture, tight calves, lack of warm up......the usual :-)

An achilles is stubborn as there's very little blood flow down there.

Also, be careful talking my slightly muddled advice; other have pointed out the importance of the initial strengthening exercised FIRST which is, now I think about, what I was shown how to do before anything else; the stretching came a bit later, IIRC.

The bit about the heel lift inside your shoe is another tip I'd forgotten - I did that. I also switched to wearing running shoes at all times as that reduced impacts and set backs. Of which there can be many at the beginning of the healing process.

Be resigned to a recovery that takes many months. Get a pro to give you a programme to follow,

I suffered a slight tear in mine a few years ago - ironically caused by my fitness instructor over-stretching it after a workout.

I had several sessions of physio then switched to a trainer who specialised in sports injuries. I went to see him for several months.

The basic problem I had then (and which I still do) is that, if I don't stretch enough, EVERYTHING gets too tight; calves, hammies, glutes, lower back, upper back, shoulders and neck. Age makes this worse as liagaments lose their elasticity. All of this puts a MASSIVE strain on your achilles.

The exercises they gave me concentrated on regaining movement, getting a bit of blood flow to the achilles and then strengthening it.

It tool a very long but it hasn't trublem me since. But then again, I still do stretching. to keep everything (relatively) elongated.
