Smyth's a winger, Chair isn't. Chair could probably play Smyth's position better than Smyth could play Chair's, but bombing down the wing and sending in crosses would hardly be the best use of his abilities.

I'm not seeing how Smyth and Chair are really interchangeable at all, they're very different players who play in different positions.

Chair will only get match fit by playing, so he'll be straight back in the team asap, probably eased in with 30 then 60 mins for the first couple of games.

Bizarre that you'd choose to go in those circumstances with the busiest period of the season coming up. On the other hand, maybe he called the fans thickos because he was already on the way out.

Either way, he had a very ordinary team punching above their weight so all good for us.
