We have a very decent rounded squad........one of the best in the league.
We do, however, need a good CF and we would be a good, very good, team. What we have are OK. |

Why do so many posters frequently 'slag' Paal??
Fortunately the Manager plays him whenever fit and available, moves him into CM during matches when the need arises which gives us a lot of options, gets him on corners & free kicks but posters post that he is poor - absolute nonsense. And BTW he was far from poor at Coventry.
We have one of the better left backs in this league and it is a real shame posters do not see that!!!! |

Paal is better than mid table Championship.....watch where is goes if we do not renew his contract.
Regarding his corners, they can be frustrating but perhaps the players he is trying to find do not do their job.....and BTW the near post corner is very difficult to exercise - he is playing the ball into a very tight area which is well defended but get to it and rewards can be very good. |

Why bring Madsen into this thread, its a Varanne thread. Totally blinkered view of Madsen BTW, he played 2/3 decent balls around, one not so good, got in good positions, defended well late in game to defend giving a corner awa - watch without blinkers and you will see much more. Varanne played well last night.....plain & simple - why over complicate things?? I do not know why he is not more forward thinking but perhaps he is doing what the Manager has asked him to do . (to sit, play it simple, defend, be strong, support the back 4, etc, etc..)
Another good signing, thus far, in his QPR career.....he is learning well |

We are in the mix for the play-offs, big month coming up......do well and we could get there but it is going to be 'proper' tough. MC and the players certainly think that they can do it and with their team spirit and togetherness it isn't all over. |

Paal is 'proper' decent Watford, arguably the best footballer in the team, one of my favourite players - he is a big asset to the team and why MC picks him whenever he is available which is most weeks. His delivery for Edwards goal was excellent, and at Coventry his run down the line cross to the CF should have won us the game. Yes he makes mistakes, yes he could defend better but he is decent - we should be making every effort to get his contract extended. Watch him move into centre midfield during the match, he gives players options all the time. He was very good last night.
I would ignore the opening post - we were too good for them and they could not handle our intensity. They looked OK in the first 20 minutes but we were within ourselves. Enjoy your Saturday, like I will. [Post edited 15 Feb 8:06]

No comparisons between the two playing wise and not much of anything apart from they were here, went to LO and returned here.
Kelman should be allowed to go where he wants.......he certainly is nowhere good enough for QPR. |

Totally overrated by many posters Watford......some wanted the Club to renew his contract. Thankfully they didnt........and quite rightly so. |

Varane getting better Norf, gotta be patient.......the players around him need to help him to being more positive and not play the easy ball and sit deep too much (but perhaps that is what MC wants????) |

We did ok, could have done better, draw a fair result. I am not to pleased today either but a couple of wins and we will be close to the play-offs as well.......it is the Championship.
Leeds are running and probably the best team but they will need to replace most of their players to stand any chance of staying in the PL.......it is not rocket science!!!!! |

I don't know about loosing the header, I will look later but the bottom line is that Cook was pushed over and the ref should have awarded a free kick and they do not win the match......I am not over complicating things - simple free kick to give and VAR, who many do not want, would have picked it up with seconds.
A draw was probably a fair enough result from my viewpoint....it was a tight game. |

Maybe Cook could have done better but VAR would not have allowed that goal.....Cook was fouled (blatantly pushed over by the goal scorer) - 100%. He had no chance of winning the header after that happened. [Post edited 12 Feb 9:07]

Kelman was decent today - well done to him.
It is only one game though, seen him play for us many times and he has never played that well. It is not just about one game it is about over the season. [Post edited 9 Feb 8:59]
