The recent Oldham game gave us some clear answers, I agree TS, we need to recruit two muscle men with fire in their bellies or our season is over. As others have alluded to McNulty needs to be sacked or he changes his tactics... Leaving one or two players upfront when we defend corners. Have another player working alongside Mitchell, it doesn't work with one upfront. Rather than getting three quarters up the pitch and then passing the ball from one side of the pitch to the other, we need to GET THE BALL IN THE BOX, and make sure our players react to that. As clearly shown yesterday substitutions need to be made in a timely manner, and McNulty demonstrates match after match he doesn't have that basic managerial skill. The essential starting point for Project 5000 is ENTERTAINMENT of fans and McNulty is not on the same page. His brand of football is grey. Pass, pass, pass and pass again. The penny still hasn't dropped with him that we want much more excitement...our owners can afford to sack him and put these costs in the area of Project 5000. Money well spent. There is still enough time to save this season...just do it !!
Spot on...I am glad you have taken effort to report this valuable feedback for the club. I finally bought my FA Cup ticket last night having similar problems. My son, who works in IT, had big problems buying a ticket last Saturday on the way to the match!!!!! Simply not good enough and it needs to improve immediately.
Special mention to Jili Buyabu. Although he didn't sparkle too much going forward his overall play was one of our key factors in grinding out that victory. He used his fast pace in defensive situations to get us out of the merde. He has bundles of energy and strength giving him more tenacity than anyone on the pitch. He was up for the fight and without him last night we would have lost...I know you can say that about others, but I just didn't see his name mentioned yet. On an initial one month loan...get him signed up for the rest of the season Jim !!!!
Yes he's a really nice bloke. But that doesn't cut it. He needs to change his tactics in order to excite the fans. How many times do we have the chance to put the ball in the box when attacking and our player will pass it instead, or we then lose the ball, or the ball finds it's way back to the keeper? Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat... I could go on and on regarding other unexciting tactics.
As ever I renewed my season ticket despite Jim McNulty 's boring walking football tactics. In the forthcoming fans' forum I hope he does the decent thing and says that he has fully recognised the real frustration of fans regarding the style of play and he is going to change things next season so we can get excited again.
Yes, all our Christmas presents have come at once. We haven't been promoted or got a place in the playoffs but this news massively eclipses any of that, it is seismic news and will affect the Dale supporters of today and those of future generations.
The manager is by far the most important person on the books. We haven't got this position sorted at the moment and it needs sorting in the next few weeks.
I liked the attacking intent of Woking when they visited us recently. In the last few weeks Woking have beaten Gateshead, Altrincham, Barnet and drew with Southend.
Jim is set in his ways . He's not going to change. We have the players to compete with a very good Gateshead side, but as expected, we didn't really lay a glove on them. That is largely down to the leadership of McNulty.
He has to go. Let another manager have a good pre-season to install some exciting football which will get our crowd numbers up.
We were lucky not to concede with all the passing about at the back. Same old, same old... Jim persists with his slow, slow, unexciting football. If he thinks that performance is good enough, then think again. Time for Jim to go I'm afraid.
