I was the same as you at first, but then having bought outright vehicles for £15k to only find them worth £6k on trade in some 3 years later it does not really matter how you get behind the wheel, drive anything half decent and fairly new your going to lose money, it's just trying to work out which method you lose the least amount. £246 for a vehicle costing over £30k new I personally don't find excessive, yes it will never be mine but do I really want to keep hold of a depreciating asset that as it gets older starts costing me more in theory to maintain, once most vehicles hit 5 years / 80k miles major servicing items are needed such as timing belts, water pumps and the like, alignment of the wheels, bushes been there done that. For example to borrow £10k over 3 years for a 3 year old vehicle, that will cost you approx £300pm, so after the 3 years the car is perhaps now worth £6k, it's lost £4k in depreciation plus any other service items that are needed, 3 years road tax, 3 x MOT and fingers crossed there will be no major problems that could wipe out any savings in one swoop. Remember your driving around in £10k used vehicle, and for over £50 per month less I am driving around in a brand new £30k plus vehicle with no extra outlay or shock bills. The £30k of my well earned is tucked away working hard getting me just shy of 5% growth per annum or £3k to put it another way, nicely offsetting my monthly lease. |

Cardiff very poor, should of been 3. Swansea should be concerned that they only got the 1 with chances created, had Cardiff some how got a late one could of been alot different, game should of been closed out. |

I have done all the ways of buying cars both new and second hand, but for the last 5 years I have been leasing and quite enjoying it, now I help others online get the best deals if it's leasing they are after. So every now and again the same questions come up of what is the best way to buy a vehicle and there is no straightforward answer to the question, there are many variables and everyone's circumstances are different. You can never compare a £1200 vehicle you keep for 5 years and sell for £500 to a brand new leased vehicle. Reality is you buy a second hand vehicle your taking a level of risk, especially if buying a second hand vehicle produced in recent years due to much more complex inbuilt safety systems and tech. Many people who buy secondhand cars do not get to see the previous owner(s) so have no idea how the vehicle was cared for. I have mates who I would never buy a car from looking at the way they treat them, but some poor sod will end up having their used vehicle. It's quite frightening how many modern vehicles have problems, especially electrical faults that can take quite some time to diagnose, the bill can quickly run into hundreds if not thousands to put right, but others have very little problems. On the flip side leasing is a fixed monthly fee, everything is brand new so drive sensibly and on most 2 year, 16-20k mile leases you can get away with the same tyres and 1 service, no MOT needed, and brake pads, wiper blades etc should not need replacing, also your tax is paid for the duration. The monthlies are usually cheaper than PCP and there are deals with no deposits needed, also no need to find a loan and pay interest on a depreciating asset it's all built into the fixed monthly fee. Anything go wrong with the vehicle then your covered under the manufacturers warranty, and pick the right vehicle and you may be saving quite a bit at the pump too if that's what your after. Also if a new model comes out or suddenly the government change the goalposts with emissions it's not your worry, the leasing company take the hit on any depreciation. So it depend what your after and how long you keep your vehicles for, alot of families like new cars because of the safety features and no sudden shock bill if the car develops a fault. At the moment I am 4 months into a 24 month lease, the vehicle new on the road was listed as £33500, I pay £246 per month with no upfront payment or admin fees, on we buy any car at the moment the price quoted for the vehicle is £25600, but that's not my worry. |

Labour will send this country into reverse, look around we are not doing too badly, Labour will come for the working class because its the only way they can get the tax returned they need, the days of 2 car families will be gone, listening to drakeford this morning, when he was hit with why child poverty in Wales is getting worse in the 20 years of the welsh assembly he blamed Westminster. What a cop out, Wales has been under Labour control for as long as I can remember and at times we have had labour in London as well, so for me no excuses they are no better and will never again get my vote, I have to switch channels whenever liar blair comes on the screen these days. |

Personally I would of preferred another year in the Prem for them, it does nothing for our cause them coming back down, parachute payments, no excessive spending, a pretty decent championship side ready to go and us well, more will be leaving than arriving over the summer. They really have a good shout of going back up, if they hold on to Warnock they will have the most experienced championship manager with a superb track record at championship level, for us it's another team we need to beat and at the moment not looking likely. Scrap that. Looking at the Magpies, I see them putting a couple past the gulls, this really could go down to the wire, especially wiuth Fulham finding a bit of late form. Anything can happen and probably will |

Good result for the Seagulls, I had them down for a point here and a point home to Newcastle. I see them conceding another 8 goals as their attack at the moment is non existent, posed very little threat today, just kept giving the ball away, Gooners, Spurs and City will exploit this alot more than Wolves did today, can see city putting 4 possibly 5 past them if they keep playing like this. Dont see Cardiff getting anything tomorrow, maybe another Chelsea type result, they are tough to breakdown at home for sure. Narrow win at Fulham and home to Palace, and lose to utd by maybe a goal or 2 (Depends I guess on what utd have to play for). So there is a real chance of it coming down to goal difference, which could be close, I have the Seagulls to stay up. |

They are still odds on to go down and last nights win by no means changes that, still tough games ahead for both teams, I guess on paper Cardiff have an easier run in and the win will boost them, Brighton look to be in trouble and lost their way. However they have a game in hand, superior goal difference and 2 points clear. I will say though the fact we are even discussing them having a chance of staying up in April with less than 5 games left of the season is an achievement in itself, their squad is 90% championship standard or lower and they spent far less than teams around them, overall squad value is.lowest in the Prem, to see Fulham down and Southampton & Brighton in the mix I think they have had a decent first season as to be fair no one expected them not to be fighting for survival |

Was having a debate last week about this, Cardiff fan to be fair really decent guy as backed the swans when they were up, basically wants the best for Welsh football and some presence in the top tier, preferably for him Cardiff. He thinks after the Cheslea game they are down, but where we don't agree his view that if Cardiff go down and then back up end of next season that their premier league achievements are up there with the Swans, although we had several seasons in the top tier he feels that Cardiff getting up there more often and over the next decade having more chance of repeating the feat will surpass the Swans achievement, he was making his case on how hard the championship can be to get out of and the bigger clubs that have struggled, surely they would need to at least match our several years in the top flight, but then 10 years time we are still championship or even league 1 and they have spent a season or 2 in the premier league I guess the only thing they have is their number if promotions. |

Robbed yes, but no sure about VAR, football has always been about dodgy decisions and I think VAR takes some of that away and slows the game, waiiting for the red card decision last night, come on. Over the course of the years I guess all teams get their fair share of dodgy decisions for and against, let's hope that 1 day when VAR is up and running at Liberty we do not regret that decision. Very hard at full speed for the ref and lineman to make the right call all the time, it's easy in slow mo, been there done that. |

My mate is a pest control expert been doing it now 20-30 years, seen all there is to see. Is only advice to me was that Rats will only hang around if there is a food source, remove that and they will be gone. We used to have them in the garden around the bird feeders, no problem they would pop in and mop up and be gone. Then they decided to camp out under the decking, I removed the bird food and they were gone. If you get them in the garden or using the Garden as a route to another garden a good .22 air rifle will sort them, if you get them inside or outside a good trap where poison is not suitable is the Nooski, a high success rate with a couple of those left out for about a week loaded with peanut butter or nutella. |

Not only did they replace us in the top flight, but the way football is at the moment especially in the Prem you never know, get through the first season, improve in their second season, establish themselves bring in players see them through their 3rd season who knows, you couldn't write it, but maybe it is their turn. |

That is the hardest of all to accept, 7 years of top flight football quietly eroded away the last few seasons. Highly unlikely to happen again for a generation, it was the timing and coming together of many things. When I look at those 7 years and the clubs that have come and gone it is difficult in our current form and club set up why we would be any different to QPR, WBA, Sunderland, Hull, Wigan, to name a few, we are not special, it was just a special time in our history. What they are doing if nothing else is making many on here look a bunch of fools. Before a ball had even been kicked many on here could not keep quiet and instead of focusing on our club were openly predicting Cardiffs fate. I dont have the time to troll through pages of comments, but some of those I remember. "Warnock sacked by Christmas", "Colin will implode after the first 10 defeats", "They will not get a single win", "They will embarrass Wales", "Straight back down with the worst points tally of any premier league club" etc etc etc ....You get the message. Personally I have never shown much interest of what goes on at a club 30-40 miles up the road, but did watch MOTD on Saturday and to be fair based on this one game and 5 minutes of highlights they seem to be doing alright, the team spirit seems to be there along with the belief that they can now go on and survive. They look to be well organised and could imagine them now 20 or so games into PL football difficult to beat, they have a real chance of surviving the first season as hard as that may be to take for some on here. If some of those players they brought in during the summer can improve and get some kind of system working then from the half hour I saw yesterday they probably could end up outside the relegation zone come the end of the season. We only had Siggy keeping us up the season before last, so 1 or 2 players finding a bit of form and working together can make a difference to any team, and from their results so far I guess there is alot of scope for them to improve. The step up to Prem is huge for championship players that they have so it depends how quickly they adapt, Newcastle and Huddersfield I don't feel are any better so if a couple more sides are in the mix they may just survive, but it's a long season of many twists and turns. |

Why the concern about how they are getting on, are we really in such a great position ourselves? For feck sake we have just dropped out of the top flight sold all of our players in what seemed like a jumble sale, we got no direction from the board and our club is a mess from the stadium to the investment. Who cares they can't fill their stadium, especially on here anyway...my view for what it's worth, midday kick off live on Sky. |

Our 7 year legacy started with 360 minutes of no goals, I remember getting ribbed over it, but in the end we had 7 years of the last laugh, not sure why we will still discuss them on here anyhow, they are prem we are not and have our own problems closer to home to sort first. 2011/12 season Manchester City 4—0 Swansea City Swansea City 0—0 Wigan Athletic Swansea City 0—0 Sunderland Arsenal 1—0 Swansea City |

You must of watched a different game, I watched the Newcastle Spurs game last week and was expecting them to get 1 or 2 today, but Cardiff looked the better side and with a decent striker could probably of nicked it. If I had seen something else I would say so, but its how I felt the game went having watched the 90 and had Newcastle got the pen in the net would probably of not reflected the performance over the full 90. |
| Forum Reply | Scum v Newcastle at 15:28 18 Aug 2018
First premier league game of theirs I have seen, and today they were the better side. They are capable of survival based on this performance, they are going to struggle to get the ball in the net but will be hard to beat at home which may be enough to keep them up with a few decent away results as the season progresses. Our first season in the prem was 4 or 5 games before our first win, I recall us not getting a goal for the first few games and look where we ended up at the end of season, any championship side will take a half dozen games to adjust to top flight football, but today they did not look like the newly promoted side againt the toons whether if we like it or not. If and it's a very big if they survive their first season back in the Prem, even if it's by a point or 2 they will be a much stronger side going into the following season, their outlay for players has been minimal, if Warnock's pulls it off and without getting the bullet before Christmas unlike their previous attempt they could get a few more seasons, and to be fair smaller clubs new to Prem I think need this approach for a season or 2 to stabilise themselves and set up for either the drop back down or for a few more season in the Prem. |
