It feels to me that the club, primarily with Juric and his decisions, are actually trying to antagonise the fans. Whoever went on Saturday saw a masterclass in doing everything to annoy the fan base, football wise. Reverting back to 5 at the back, with our best full back being played as a CB. No striker. And nothing done to address the glaring problem of not having anyone to score when we were dominant n possession. Then destroying any chance of recovery at half time by taking off our most effective midfielder as the price for giving us a striker on the pitch.
It wasn't just that though. The way the security treated some fans during and after after the game. Even the hospitality was appalling. All season, Ive been able to wander to one of the many numerous bars at half time to get a drink without a long queue if I wanted to. That all seemed to change on Saturday too for some reason, when we've had less fans. Suddenly long queues at the bars with nobody seeming to be getting served. Issues with the pumps. Being told to queue rather than just approaching the outside bars. Weirdly, it hasn't been like that all season. I don't know if thats what the police wanted because we were lucky enough to have a Saturday game and might want to enjoy the day.
Either way, it really does feel that the club, in every way it can, wants to stick two fingers up to its own fanbase right now.
Whether this is psychological, so that the fans breathe a bigger sign of relief when this sh*t show of a season ends. Or just simply they get off on ruining our day. Only time will tell |

If we have hopes for the future with AmoAmeyaw, why on earth wouldn't we give him the opportunity to get some Premier League experience now. And its hardly like we have much quality in the centre of our midfield, that the risk is too great to give him game time. Especially when we see how harmful the loaning out process has been to Ballard. Does it really benefit players to get kicked about in the lower leagues for a season or too??? |

I am still baffled that it is beyond any of our management to just try pairing Onuachu (hold up man) with Archer (2nd striker, mobile threat).
Whilst we can moan and berate about our need for a quality striker - which I don't dispute - it doesn't matter if you have Haland up front if he doesn't get any supply. Pelle played a similar type of role to Onuachu and, he sometimes dropped deep to create space for the attackers and draw out the defenders. And lots of our fans berated him too, but there is no doubt that he was class. And every time we take off Onuachu, our threat has gone and we get pummelled. I think that Onuachu is getting by on awful service and has had half chances at best. It doesn't make it his fault that he is not scoring.
It is our midfield that is a mess. Yes, it was always going to be a disaster without Downes and Fernandes. But we are still short in midfield to create chances and release the pressure from our back line. And we aren't brilliant enough to have 5 at the back. As posters have said here - we lost the midfield. Just as we did against Palace and WHam.
For whatever our long term ambitions, I would drop the 3 at the back and play a back 4, as others have said, so we can have at least one more player in Midfield until we have sorted out our overall squad and play. And I would probably drop THB of the back 3. He takes way too long on the ball, which is a disaster in the EPL, meaning whoever he finally passes to is already under pressure. And I don't remember seeing hm throw himself in front of shots like we've seen Wood do. Which is often what it takes to get points. |

I get there is a lot of anger and frustration, and much of it justified.
The reason I left early last night though was because of VAR. Whats the point of even turning up to matches when all that matters to VAR is shafting Southampton, And looking at each VAR punishment on its merits to try and justify VAR decisions is a scam. Because when every decision is going to go against us. All that is consistent is that it favours the bigger or higher up the league club and I can't be a*sed with it any more.
I knew thats how it worked when we last got relegated, its why I preferred the Championship and and its why, despite the obvious drawbacks, I don't want to fund the EPL and its blatant merry go round of corruption. |

Sadly for him and us, it would look as if ABKs football career is over. What a beast of a player he looked in his first season.
Just like Larios, who missed the whole of last season. ABK has barely been able to play a minute of football since October '23. So whether it really is his shoulder or actually his heart injury, he's clearly unable to play football at a competitive level any more. Which was why he failed his medical to go back to Germany. No doubt at some point he will be released. He only has 2 years left on his contract.
Its definitely going to be a challenge for our defence on Sunday, but as Block 8 said, we do have other options. Whoever we have in defence, this game is likely to be won or lost in Midfield. If we continue to fail to create chances and we keep passing it about in our own third just to keep possession, we'll get picked off as we have in every other game this season and it could get ugly |

Its on record that Rasmus Ankersen derides fans. He probably finds it amusing the situation that Saints are in and that those ungrateful pleb supporters aren't happy about it. Either way, he will still keep his job for repeated failure and receive his fat payments for incompetence, when we are relegated again. Still, we'll have funded the success of Goztepe and Valencianne with our EPL cash and Sports Republic will probably be comfortably in the black when we sell on anything good or with potential in our squad when we go down. |

Agree with the views and sentiments here.
Though I am confused by these mentions of Ugochunkwu being a man we should have brought on. Short memories Saints fans. He was the cause of leaked goals and lacks of concentration up until we had to take him off after his shambles at Bournemouth. I have no idea why him or Cornet would even get another place on the bench, let alone time on the pitch. Other than because we have to due to the terms of their loan deals. We can send them back now as far as I am concerned, which would be an improvement to our squad |

Certainly fair assessments. The problem that it raises for me is that some of these signings and the carry over of average players from last year give lie to Lallana's claim that the pathway for youngsters is wide open. It was noticeable that Amo-Ameyaw was missing from the bench against Ipswich. Instead those places were used by Cornet, , Ugochukwu and Aribo, effectively. Seeing as AA was one of the stars from preseason, you would think the coaches would be eager to give AA more opportunities, seeing as Dibling and his fearless play has been such a success. Sadly, we are sacrificing what our home grown players will offer to favour minutes for loanees and journeymen who have not earned their place. Exactly what we got wrong last season. The loanees no doubt have terms in their contracts that they must play a part in our season, be that through minutes on the pitch or appearances. Which works entirely against giving our own youth players time. I know I would rather have seen AA come on over Aribo and Ugochukwu who have not shown they are up to the EPL yet. And then Cornet who has offered little to nothing on the few appearances he has had |

In addition to what has already been said, the one thing that was noticeable to me was the way we seem to have lost our ability to press as a team. This used to be one of our great strengths. And I appreciate that the team is still forming. However, we were totally unable to pressure Man Utd when they were on the ball. One of our players might have moved to challenge the player on the ball but this was never coordinated with other players in the area and it was easy for United to pass it around and work our way up field. Generally, it felt like our team was in two minds once we lost the ball - some opting to peg it back to our own half and others looking to take it to the opposition and try to quickly win it back. Unless we quickly get ourselves organised in winning the ball back and how we do that, we are going to be dependent on opposition errors and struggle to control games, whatever the scoreline |

What confused me was Martin's statement that we can't sign a new keeper until we get one off of the squad. Seeing as it seems clear to many that McCarthy can not cut it, whatever was the logic in giving him a new contract?
We had a great chance to get his wages off of the books and free up space for that new EPL standard keeper. But instead opted to shoot ourselves in the foot and restrict our options. |

Crikey, did the club give the Ugly inside money to push this marketing blurb about the App and not criticise the obvious problems? Roll up roll up!
The club pushing fans to use a mobile phone to go to games is a total load of garbage and will cause queues, as it usually has done, with fans fumbling around with their ticket app. And if they have family on it too, passing their phone back at the turnstile for other family members to use it too.
There is no obvious fan benefit. Just more digitisation and club control. And what will you do if your battery dies before the game?
This move will also mean the club having control to restrict who you can lend your tickets to and profit from your ability to give someone else your ticket.
No comment from this site about these obvious failings and the trap of digital tickets?
People don't have to accept this dodgy scam by the club and can demand a physical season ticket. I did for next season and have no interest in supporting this drive to digitise fans. Once digital tickets are in, then if you ever get a bad mark against your name, you won't be able to get rid of it. Heck, once they know who you are, going to the football can be withdrawn as a privilege if you aren't a good obedient little citizen. |

"only just 36"-seriously? Lallana couldn't play 90 minutes when he was at his peak. If Mr Nivea wants a cushy number, why doesnt he go and play for Bournemouth? His travel will be really short then.
I was fine with the Walcott signing and he did a job. Lallana is past it and any player that refused to play fur Saints to force through a move to his dream club can get lost. Unless we want to bring someone in to act as a guide to our young players on how to shsft your employer and chase the money, like his mate VVD |
