Swansea City v Sunderland : Match day thread
at 13:24 15 Dec 2024

In every day workplaces there are people that " just do enough". As Williams indicated there is a mentality problem. Mid table will do for many.

Darling and Cabango want to be convinced this team is going places. Grimes must drive himself and the team forward. Conor Roberts and Ash Williams barked like a rottweilers when standards slipped.

Swansea finished above Sunderland last season by two or three places. Sunderland e were every bit as Swansea were today. From recollection they were coached by Tony Mowbray.

They were going through a rejuvenation process and bringing in new players. They have been patient and it is playing dividends.

One hopes Swansea is doing the same.

What value Cullen ?
at 23:21 14 Dec 2024

I saw him bend in a free kick in an u21 pre-season game at Barry 4-5 years ago. I am surprised he has not been used more. He is not a complete forward due to his weakness with aerial crosses but is playing well non the less,

Cullen Cooper and Cabango are all slow burners and only now at 25 establishing themselves. I am a firm believer that many forwards in particular start to find their way after the age of 24 as they develop their craft by experience.

Piroe found his feet immediately after being given game time. It took him a year to become Leeds s no 9.

I am confident Vipotnik will improve too.

Football is a simple game and he had over 40 years of managerial experience. Even if you are correct Bradley was not at the club long enough to do significant damage. He was not given a chance.

The damage was home grown with Jenkins's failing recruitment and Clement not being strong enough to refuse Bony and Clucas and his selection of Sanches and a too raw Abraham.

Swans have no answers against Sunderland : Same issues for Luke
at 20:09 14 Dec 2024

Sunderland were where Swansea were two seasons ago under Tony Mowbray I think. A flakey team with inexperienced young players. After 48 long month things started clicking.

Swansea will hopefully be top 10 this season and press on next season with 2-3 key signings, The club needs the same manager for more than two seasons.

Cooper was for quick fixes with his loans. It did not work. Williams like everybody else has to learn on the job.

I am in no doubt this tea is not top 6 but is improving slowly. Cullen Cooper and Cabango have taken about 4 years to get to first team regulars.

Players like Vipotnik, Ronald, Eom, Key and Tymon and not fully matured and need time and patience.

Swansea are a slowly improving mid table team.

Possession Based football.

Sharp crisp one touch football around the opinion box is what everyone wants. Swansea players have not been trained to head the ball properly. Cullen demonstrates this every week.

There is no point putting in high balls if there is no one to head the ball. Williams sent the only forward who can head the ball to Scotland to hopefully improve and get games.

Josh Thomas cannot get on the bench for Bromley some weeks.

Coleman presented the revised recruitment model as a revolutionary step change. This followed on from the Martin era and the infamous Connor Roberts frisbee post with the young fellow doing his best.

Extra scouts, Watson appointed, and international signings. We heard this before with Andy Scott admittedly. Watson has moved on of course.

Swansea have to operate this way. Buy young cheap and develop the youngsters.

Clement was a disaster Bradley was not. Bradley had a lot of experience and while his accent grated no one knows how things would have panned out with Llorente and Sigurdsen on form.

It was Clement that approved Clucas, Bony, and unforgivably Sanches. A £35m calamity. A phone call to his mates would have told him he was a "damaged" footballer.

Swansea have a new methodology which is buying potential and 20-23 year olds. These players are slow burners who will need time to develop. Franco, Eom, Vipotnik etc.. Vigoreux has been good.

Remember Cooper threw away a promising 21 year old in Gyorkeres who has turned from struggling player unable to cut in the Championship to a superstar.

You comment stated it was "proven" that Williams was not fully involved in the Summer window. His comments suggest he was entirely happy with his level of involvement. To suggest you do not believe him is not "making stuff up".

He is using the WE word. It is not subtle at all and it is not "making stuff up" which is a nasty bit of spin.

"WE are working on transfers". *WE are looking at players". "WE are working on Cabango and Darling". etc.

Martin used the " this was a decision by the Ownership group".(Whittaker returning).

Good PR for sure. Birch is still remembers and a brilliant administrator. Buying a round always helps.

They have not been a disaster but generally we're unsuccessful. The club is in it pre Jenkins optimal position. Mid table in the Championship.

It was the miss steps by the Welsh administration which took Swansea down. They delegated for too long.

A succession of managers knowing they had too work to a restricted budget who deflected blame for their failure at their door. The "If only" managers.

"If only I had Ryan Woods." Potter Who?

"If only I had Keinan Davis" Cooper who let Gyorkeres end his deal

"If only I got help up top" Martin who fell out with the three forwards.

All January. "It's the bloody Yanks to blame. I'm off to Brighton Forest and Southampton"

My neighbours son is pretty useless unless playing darts in the pub. It was never his fault. His bosses never understood him".

The reason was the ball went into Swansea s net more than it did the oppositions net in general over the period of their ownership. Furthermore it followed a period of unprecedented success over about 14 years.

Fans look for other reasons but this was the main one.

There is sympathy for Antonio. This is correct. However if he had passengers injured or by standers it would be a different narrative..

I do not like to see Welsh people offering a begging bowl. The fans have a their own ownership with £1.3m in the bank getting miserable interest.

The same fans oversaw their representation fail to sell a single share to more than one buyer offering £1m per1% with a total value of £22m.

If the SCST can donate £10 as part of their rules there is much more than can do.

Williams says he is fully engaged in the transfer business. I believe him you do not.

He has effectively removed all excuses for future results which I like to see.

Cooper and Martin in particular played this game. There are budgetary controls at Swansea city. It is what managers signed up for.

I am not sure of your logic. Pedersen was a reserve CB h but is always injured. Abbey is a good prospect but had a nightmare debut. Why do you say he was definitely not involved in these decisions?

This smacks of the forum logic when the manager is always right. Swansea backed Martin on Fisher and Sorinola. One of Cooper's permanent signing was Peterson who he froze out.
