Boscombe just scored from another set-piece.

Why can we never do this?

Oh yeah. No set-piece coach.

And yet we concede another terrible goal from a corner last night……

Quite the thing of beauty.

I swear Saints are destined to score one just like this at some point this season.

Martin will be getting the players to practise this today in training in time for Brighton.

Trust the process, Saints fans.

Where is Charlie Taylor?

Surely a better bet at left-back than Fraser.

Quite surprised to see Manning on the bench. TBF he has been quite solid of late.

God, this is a cringey watch.

“Rhino”
“Tay”

What we need is a manager with some gravitas, who the players will fear.

What we have is a bloke who just wants to be their highly-paid mate.

God, it almost makes me pine for Hassenhutl.

New Director of Football
at 08:27 12 Nov 2024

I am waiting with bated breath for the announcement of a new Director of Football, which it seems may be imminent.

This will be the “we are not losing faith in Russell, we want to give him some back-up” slant.

Which will save £12 million in redundancy. For now.

Though the Director of Football could end up being the new manager…..

Decent game last night.

Two teams who couldn’t defend, a bit of needle in the second-half to fire up the crowd, and no VAR.

Ref was half-decent as well.

Bring on more of the same next season.

Martin will cling on to his job.

Guardiola will say we are the best team we have played all season.

Set-piece coach
at 08:24 22 Oct 2024

Article in The Echo this morning confirms that we have not had a set-piece coach since Georgson left last season.

Have been winging it by the job being shared between Calderwood and Gill.

On Saturday, we again let in a criminally bad goal from a corner to cost us any points.

25 miles up the road, about an hour and a half later, Boscombe scored from a well-worked set-piece against Arsenal. As they did against us a few weeks ago.

It isn't that these teams have better players than us (though a lot of teams do).

It's that we are so amateurishly prepared.

Again, it is the basics which are costing us. Not clever stuff.

This is wholly on the head of Russell Martin.
