yes, one of the impacts of the Premier League is that players that used to drop down to lower clubs before retiring now no longer happens. Probably money reasons I guess, they earn so much more before retiring or even considering a club such as ours. But David Webb and McClintock were to the last I guess and Ryan Nilsen the exceptions, now Cookie, just shows what can be done. Another world perhaps, we'd have had Danny Ings by now too, aint goning to happen |

the difference is I didn't "come on here" decrying anything in connection with Ray Jones, what I did do is pass a comment as to Prescotts behaviour in perspective of what I've been told/knew he spent his life telling anyone who wasn't a Labour supporter he didn't think much of them; I'm being polite here. You'll recall his claim to fame of his affair with his secretary and his hustle of his property in Docklands etc the thing is, you ( should arguably ) strive in life to be a good person and if you haven't, don't expect anything less than those shortfalls to be made clear. Rest assured various obituaries will recount my comments and more. |

Prescott was working at Admiralty Arch...I think it was in this office that he got a b-job off his secretary. Not a nice bloke at all. As the Arch was being refurbed the Construction Team held a weekly review meeting. Also there were representatives of the client/Government who were still using the building during the redecoration etc. The area was scaffolded and from a H&S viewpoint areas were taped off preventing access. Prescott had been seen and asked repeatedly to recognise the tape, but insisted on ignoring the warnings and passing through dangerous working areas under the scaffolding. The site staff raised it again and asked that Prescott be advised again to recognise the tapes and use the appropriate walkway. The following week he did exactly the same simply throwing up V Signs to the workers there. When you consider the bloke became a shop steward and later an MP and further into Government based on the principle of improving H&S at sea it seems rather ironic that when he thought no one was looking and he was above the rules he chose to ignore them. I guess if your going to be a professional politician thats the kind of character you need. He did have 2 Jags. As a Jaguar owner myself, that always rankles a bit as you can tell [Post edited 21 Nov 16:21]

Sadly, very sadly, I'm reading these posts from people/supporters and commentators who, if attending have clearly got too much money in their pockets and no serious hobbies. OK I know I'm tarred with the same brush, but I'm trying to bring some sanity to my life and now, aged 70+ recognise QPR and the club for what it is. Quite why some 14,000 odd people can find a logical reason to go watch this crap week in week out is frankly amazing. Those figures of goals and wins at home over the last 4 or 5 seasons is truly horrific. Couple that to a Management ( not Marty ) who seem incapable making a logical decision in both buying players, apparently unfit for purpose and known to a majority in the industry prior to our offering them a fat contract, combined with a policy of non engagement with their customers/supporters. As they say in all the best Dragons Den series, "I'm out"....and I don't intend to be coming back. |

it wasn't all that long ago he was being eulogised as the best manager in the league some clubs have strange ways of doing things, don't we know ! |

exactly Damo it's not nice to be so harsh, but really? Why not speak as you feel it's akin to putting an old pet down. You don't want to tell the Vet to do it, but in your heart you know you must. |

I have no idea of the make up of this board or those commentating / posting On a personal basis I've followed and supported all my life. thats a few years I can tell you. Supporting them in my teens/twenties, followed them with a young family and then supported them with a ST during my 50/60's. I'm lucky as, unlike you supporters, I'm only following them. At my age and with a more circumspect view of the world I've clearly got a clarity of mind that says I've got better things to do with north of 50quid on a Tuesday night. These latter years of Paladini etc made me realise perhaps more than anything that I was being taken for a mug. Now, more than that, looking in on the debacle of the way the club is currently run I can see I have no interest in supporting them. Following, yes, but actually attending matches with my hard earned, nope, that ain't gonna happen. When I read these posts there are clearly some that are delusional, who really think next weeks game will bring a turnaround. I am the only one here that can see this club has been on the slide for over a decade, and the decade before that etc etc etc. Don't even get me started on the state of the art training facility, the hosts of home grown recruits we've developed, Richard Langley, come on down.....and since then, Chair. Thats it. I'm afraid can't offer the reader any solace, it will probably never get better in your lifetime, and, if it were to, it'll be a passing fad, the odds and the system / laws of the game are made to keep it that way, think anything else and you really are delusional |

On a more serious note, experienced supporters and followers of teams will know Barry Bannan has been one of the best players in the League (s) for what? lets say 8 years. No surprise he's scored and I'm sure we'll have done homework on him - if really needed - as to his prowess at eluding midfield markers going forward. He's been a very good player at this level, simple as that. I think he practically kept them up at the end of last season with some of his performances/goals. No shame in him scoring against us, however what was basically 90 mins of total tosh probably deserved he scored anyway. Onward and downward..... [Post edited 14 Sep 17:32]

yes, new just come through, so, so sad. It's perhaps hard to appreciate nowadays, there was something Gladiatorial about him. Given Stans size it was even more mesmerising...he was truly the best rest in peace dear Stan, rest in peace. |
| Forum Reply | Beale sacked at 17:09 19 Feb 2024
I'm getting the strong impression Beale is/was a professional non performer. By that I mean his tenure at Rangers ( that's Jockland Rangers ) was a opportunity to secure monies beyond an average managers capability. Add the Sunderland job, where, to be frank he showed no appetite for the "real job ". Either in living near to the city or communicating with the fans during/post match and then body language with the players post game, hence he can walk away with a very good settlement given his 2 year contact being terminated. You could almost say that was his strategy from the outset. Of course the above assumes he's signed up to a water tight contract where employment termination would result in a appropriate settlement. I say this based on his Agent / Solicitor signing up and agreeing such a deal. When you consider the mans actual achievements which are pretty scant to be fair, you have either a group of employers who've been sucked into his snake oil pitch, or a game plan of maximising his apparent skills and achievements way beyond their actual worth. Either way, its an impressive game plan, which to be honest has probably made him a wealthy man in a short space of time. Is he related to Harry Redknapp? |

well according to the majority of the Bristol City supporters he was one of out best players. Won the majority of headers coming his way and engaged their back line continually giving them no room have a read of their Forum, I don't think they'd misread his performance. |
