That’s my point, Rayns,
I’ve no issue with that as it’s just based on his ability. If it was linked to his sex or his race etc. I’d be saying the same thing.
I feel the same about Angela Raynor. Comment on her competence by all means, but why should we she put up with the barbs about her appearance?
We want the brightest and best to go into politics and some of those will be women. They don’t need any additional barriers. |

Basically it’s called he a secretary.
Demeaning her role on the basis of gender.
I’ve seen noting on this thread that’s comparable in that a nickname purely used to denigrate by using something not directly linked to competence.
Also having used this forum a long time I’ve certainly not seen a nickname on here used with such frequency.

I disagree.
It’s possible to give nicknames based on competence without referring to sex, race, gender or age.
The nicknames provided by AJ prove that. |

I only can really go far back as Lamont. I don’t recall any of those nicknames being used as frequently.
This forum goes back a while, should it be fair to say the one for Reeves has been the one most used on here? |

Can you name any former chancellors that have been given a derogatory nickname used as much as the one given to Reeves?
On reflection, misogynistic is probably the wrong word in this context. Sexist fits better. |

All our political parties have come out with their opinion on Trump, Putin and Ukraine except one.
Nothing from the Reform MPs who are revered for their straight talking.

It does feel like a pick your side moment.
Difference is Trump and Putin are now clearly the same side.
Not much of a surprise to many as both govern in ways that appeal to some: autocratic, insular, incendiary, divisive etc.
None of this matters as it’s seen as a means to a desired end. |

He’s an English MP in Westminster so his references will be to English schools.
Edit: Just had a look at the Welsh history curriculum and it’s mostly Wales/Britain too. It’s a bit harder to pin down as there’s far more teacher choice in Wales and in England it’s much more prescriptive. [Post edited 20 Feb 11:08]

I don’t think anyone has tried to defend it.
Unfortunately it’s representative off all our politicians sadly but in the scheme of things, Im more interested in other current events to give it much time.
The one thing is will say and it doesn’t make it any better, is the flack Reeves is getting is massive for what she’s done compared to what Zahawi got for forgetting to pay millions seems stark.
I also don’t like the casual misogyny in calling her Rachel from Accounts. I appreciate I'm probably a lone voice on here in thinking that. |

This is going to be difficult for some.
Trump and Putin are now a pair. Two sides of the same coin.
There’s be a lot of mental gymnastics going on by their supporters but for many, Trump’s words are not in the least surprising. |
