I like Saito and Dembele, but they need to receive the ball facing goal and on the move, or with players near them to move the ball quickly to. At the moment they get the ball backs to goal, isolated and are picked off easily because if their lack of physicality.
I think our summer transfer dealings show a lot of naivity from the main man behind the scenes, just not enough championship experience in the players, or Nourry if I'm being honest.
It's not helped that we've lost JCS/Miller and Colback/Varane at the same time. And, again, Marti sees nothing in our development squad players to help us through this.
But... I trust Marti. I think Celar is starting to show bits and pieces. Chair is back and will make a huge difference, and we've got a fortnight to hopefully get Colback and JCS back.

Chair coming back to receive the ball from the defence was a blessed relief

I've seen us start with 11 men and finish with 9 in the past, this is the first time I've seen us start with 9 and finish with 11

There's a real debate about who was behind these signings.
I thought Monday's 'reveals' were quite telling

I retract my defence of Andersen after that half

Apart from one important f.up, I thought Andersen was OK on Tuesday. The Hull commentators were happy to see him substituted, as they thought he was causing them problems.
Unfortunately, the team pretty much picks itself, so light are we in numbers. More playing out of defence as there is no realistic option of going long and keeping hold of the ball.

Hull Reflection
at 08:08 2 Oct 2024

7 players were involved (on the pitch at some stage) yesterday who had no championship experience prior to the start of this season, while another 3 had very limited experience. That's a lot of churn and a lot of adjusting to do in a short space of time.

They're used to block runners. Certainly rather ineffectively against Millwall. Totally agree that they would be better keeping defenders occupied on the halfway line.
A number of times Nardi looked for a quick release and had no available options.

Do feel we can improve on defending the edge of our box, but then he received the ball via a deflection.
We're playing some nice football though, Anderson looking much better

I had an over-weight friend who blamed their problem on their parents for buying them chocolate everytime they fell over, were upset, etc.
This feels similar.

Surprised no-one's picking up on the very late, studs up challenge on Anderson, and the different punitive outcome.

My final comment was made with a healthy dose of cynicism!
I'm always wary of premier league referees 'stepping down', I would imagine VAR may well subconsciously change their behaviour

After Varanes late challenge, the reaction of a couple of their players suggests he's got a broken leg - one of them has his head in his hands. Team effort, that sending off. I think it's 50-50 he's getting a red, but they made sure.
Near the end, one of their players was very late on Anderson, studs up in to his ankle. Made no difference to the score, but if one's a red, the other is. Still, helped make up for the ridiculous red they got against Preston.

Going back to the first goal, and the amount of time the scorer had, I have a theory about why we concede so many 'worldies'...
