Cocker Spaniel.
at 16:46 8 Jul 2020

My friend had a King Charles. Whenever I'd visit their house it would leap at my face like the face-hugger from the Alien films and proceed to yelp, lick and sniffle me to oblivion. INSANELY friendly; a bit too much for me! Maybe my face looks like the back end of a female King Charles spaniel. that might explain a lot of things;)

Cocker Spaniel.

We had an English Cocker Spaniel as a pet when I was a kid. Wonderful dog, absolutely wonderful. I remember it was a right bugger to keep her ears clean and clear of hair mats - spent more time brushing her ears than my own hair.

She had the stubby tail when we got her, but when she had puppies we kept the tails on; I'm so glad that's more common these days.

Anyone been to Egypt?
at 21:47 18 Jun 2020

I've been to Luxor (Thebes to the ancient Greeks). Magnificent place; the whole thing felt like being in an Indiana Jones movie. Heartily recommend it,

The temples and tombs were a sight to behold; really makes you put civilization into context - how awesome, strong, longstanding they can be, and yet now just a tourist trap. Took a cruise on the Nile too, which was great until the giant bees came buzzing around my head, and then it was f*ck this, I'm going down to the bar.

A lot of people go to Giza because of the Pyramids - and who can blame them? it's certainly on my list, but Luxor probably has more to see and do.

Oh, and it's hot. F*CKING HOT. 45C in the shade hot. At least it is if you're an idiot and go in the summer like I did.

Why did you pick your photograph

because I was there and it was amazing (2-0 away win at the Emirates with Michu scoring both). I found an image online, cropped it and job done.

Gardening tips
at 21:51 18 May 2020

Not wall-related, but in general I'd recommend 'going native' as much as possible when looking for plants, shrubs and trees.

Native plants will grow better, require less watering/fertilizing and generally be happier in their surroundings, plus they help support local wildlife. I think a lot of people get disheartened when they start gardening by failing to keep alive some exotic plants they found on sale at Homebase and give up.

I did wonder if someone would pick up on that!

I'm across the pond in the US of A.

Among all the layoffs and furloughs, I'm grateful to still have a job.

Ordinarily I dislike working from home, but I'm coming around to it now (week 2). It's a beautiful Spring day and I'm sitting on a couch on the patio doing Skype conference calls and shooting off a few emails as the birds sing and a light breeze washes over me. Could be worse.

What items are people finding hard to source if any?
at 16:07 23 Mar 2020

One major supermarket chain over here (in Tennessee) is suspending refunds on goods at the moment as they're being inundated with panic buyers realizing they maybe didn't need all the stuff they stripped off the shelves.

You bought 87 chicken breasts, you can frickin' eat them.
