Is Eustace a better manager than Cifuentes?

Probably significantly better than we do. Played us off the park and being down to ten men is no excuse to capitulate.

Men against boys. Our newbies, with exception of Nardi and maybe Harrison are too lightweight in this league. Beginning to doubt the footballing ability of some of them as well.

Long season ahead, with very few grass roots showing so far.

Competent at what exactly. Everyone just wants to give the ball back to Cook.

That was horrible. One cross from Saito the sum of our attacking threat from the 3 AM’s. Varane and Field just go back with it every time.

As a team we are going backwards. A long road ahead for Marti with this lot.

Not a happy stomping ground for us Ewood. That report doesn’t fill me with confidence of a change in fortunes either. Roll on Saturday.

When Marti finally decides on his strongest eleven and preferred formation with the inclusion of Chair, then and only then, will we start to kick on a bit.

Bit of a mish mash at the moment, but only one loss from 6 is not bad going all things considered.

Frey and Nardi drag QPR through clunky Millwall show - Report
at 19:23 23 Sep 2024

Spot on as usual.

We simply cannot continue to accommodate Anderson and Madsen playing together. It’s one or the other with Varane accompanying Field/Colback.

Dembele is not a winger. He plays at 10 or Smyth takes the right wing spot.

Saiito is cover for Chair only.

We have five players at 5”6 or under and are getting bullied. This will continue unabated unless our movement and available pace is used more effectively. We can expect more rough house tactics up at Blackburn this weekend and should plan accordingly. Back to the drawing board titled pragmatic.

Anderson
at 16:00 22 Sep 2024

All of this kind of makes a mockery of the argument surrounding the selection against Palace.

I’m not even sure Marti knows our best eleven or formation and the side looks and feels unbalanced and lightweight, not to mention players getting selected that are not in form.

I do worry that our attacking midfielders and ball players are too lightweight for this league. Dembele, Smyth, Saito and Anderson get flattened constantly and really look to be struggling. Madsen looks useful, but the hurly burly of this league is a bit of a culture shock to him and his style is similar to Anderson.

Marti has his work cut out and needs to return to the pragmatism that served him well last season.

The team selection for Blackburn needs to reflect the challenge it represents.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Had a poor start to the season, but suspect he will come good again. Poor today though.

Only Frey and the keeper had decent games for me.

We rested Colback, Dunne and Frey on Tuesday….this will now be a walk in the park with those boys gracing us with their presence in the morning.

Consistent and dependable. No problem with Paal and think we would miss him if injured/ suspended with no adequate back up.

Genius Eze inevitably wraps return narrative – Report
at 20:28 19 Sep 2024

I’ve been watching QPR for over 40 years and by and large we have always been guilty of playing within ourselves (passive now the term) until we concede and then voila, we pick it up and have a go.

Not often we go for the throat right from the off. It wasn’t likely to happen last night with a bunch of relative strangers playing together against a team from the premiership full of multi million pound and international capped players.

We had a decent go and the majority of the fans in the stadium appreciated the effort. Vauxhall motors it was not.

Genius Eze inevitably wraps return narrative – Report
at 20:12 19 Sep 2024

At 1-1 we were in the ascendancy and Eze scored against the run of play. We then had them on the rack and they were shithousing for the last 15 minutes trying to see the game out. We almost scored twice in the dying minutes with Henderson pulling off a great save from Smyth following a great move.

That for me, was not us tossing the game off in favour of putting Colback back in to save the day against Millwall. Passive in the first half, but had a go in the second. Just like every game this season bar West Brom.

If this team gels sooner rather than later, there is no reason we can’t make a push for the play offs. The potential is there.

Mid table mediocrity is not necessarily a given!

That referee blew for everything and anything. Never allowed the game to flow.

Found it infuriating tbh.

I think we need to reflect on how far we have come in a really short period of time.

We have cleared all the deadwood out and brought a raft of new players in that are all showing potential but will ultimately take time to bed in and find their feet.

Last night was another step in the right direction as the players get used to the system and each other.

Seems a bit churlish to expect this squad, in this period of its development, to go out all guns blazing and blitz a premiership team with a prodigy like Eze pulling the strings.

We have plenty to be excited about and I, for one, look forward to how this team/squad develops and improves over the coming months.

Well that “line up” put up a far better showing than our supposed full strength side managed on Saturday Brian.

The only caveat I would include is that SW were far more physical and pressed us much harder than Palace did. We are in a transition stage and have 3 significant injuries, two of which are our best players.

Good effort tonight, and more important minutes for the likes of Saito, Varane and Madsen, who all showed promise with hopefully more to come. Celar is the worry. Looked a bit of a donkey tonight if I’m honest.

No doubting Alfie is showing far more promise than Celar at the moment. Celar looks even slower than Frey, which is frankly embarrassing.

Whatever Celar’s attributes are, he needs to start showing something and soon otherwise he will start to cop for some flak.

Ashby looks the part. Strong in the tackle, quick and likes to bomb forward.

Varane having a decent game, but still to see what Celar brings to the party. Apparently good in the box, but he ain’t going to see much of that tonight.

Better first half than that mush served up on Saturday tbh.
