Marlon Harewood 17:40 - May 23 with 9728 viewsdale1996

He has appeared twice on our favourite transfer rumours site today. Do we think there's any chance of this? Would we want him at the club? I would definitely want him at the club despite his age. I just wondered what everyone else though?

Let me be the first to call bull.

Anyone who wouldn't be happy about signing Harewood on the premise of his poor goalscoring record over recent years is a bit naive I think. Don't compare him to Adebola. Adebola was four years older, whereas Harewood also has experience at a higher level.

He'd be great, but I can't see it happening.

Hilly is after him put it this way

He's not looking at Championship players and Championship wages, apparently.

I think the championship wages is the key thing in that statement. A championship player whose on cheaper wages maybe

Hill is careful with his comments, so I'm sure it's aimed at one or more players

I would agree. Hilly has clearly been ambitious with a few of his targets but is becoming frustrated with said targets' agents' demands.

I like that he says he is even looking overseas for potential players. Not sure how that works with our limited scouting, but something must be in place that is halfway reliable.

PFA website lists all the players available and a working knowledge of the leagues which Hill has helps.

No manager will be held to ransom in the lower leagues, it's a buyers market

I was talking about the overseas element with regards to our limited scouting, not domestic.

Take your point, didn't read your original post carefully. A lot of clubs seems to look towards Eire for talent.

Ireland (both north and south) has a lot of decent players, yeah. Although, a lot seem to disappear when they come over here (Pete Thompson at Stockport and Rory Donnelly at Swansea just two recent examples).

Anyway, back to the subject of the thread. Marlon Harewood seems to have business interests outside of football (AC13 Premier), as many footballers do later in their careers. It may be he does just want to keep playing and money isn't the be all and end all of a potential deal.

That said, I still think he could walk into the starting XI of a host of League One clubs before even considering playing for us.

Deal nearly done - according to Football Rumours site. Can't help thinking that there is some truth in this story as it keeps resurfacing.

What a 33 year old championship standard striker!!!He'd be a class above at our level that's for sure, if a deal was done it would be one hell of a signing by Hilly

It's hardly hills style signing an (excuse the pun) over-the-hill player is it?

He's obviously not championship standard anymore, otherwise championship clubs would be after him.

Looking for experience, then he will have bags of it, for Hilly's ambitions this season, play off's promotion, Job done... May be Hilly plans on playing him for next season, sure he would more than make up for wages if we get in the top 6..

Maybe he can play centre half?
