We have just lost Sidibe and McGurk until the end of the season so I would be very surprised if we did not recall Thompson in the next few days as we need the cover

In our part of the Sandy, JT is known as Skippy - something to do with the way he runs as if carrying a tray and skips around instead of getting stuck in!

I'd agree with others that we've looked better with him in the side, but maybe that's due merely to the switch to 4-4-2. Who will take Thompson's place now? Haworth?

with joe thompson in the team we look like we have options with him running around for the ball without we look like we dont know were we are going hopefully we can get another win and regroup for next year

Oh no, how will we cope!? He hadnt improved at all from the move to Tranmere and still didnt run forward to counter attack until shouted at by fans to and when he did as soon as a defender came he was looking to pass it backwards.
Haworth is much better especially now we are playing 4-4-2 IMO and i really dont know why we signed him to bench warm.

Haworth is awful. At least with JT he added versalitily, defensive work rate and something in the air. Haworth has pace that's about it. If Coleman had signed Haworth we would all claim he's a waste of wage. I'd rather have Rundle than Haworth.
This is the One, I've waited for

Interesting to watch Hill on Dale player professing his love for Joe Thompson and what he brings to the team. Focuses on how when he plays we tend to win or at least avoid defeat. Must admit I am definitely a Thompson fan, although I think that has come from me defending him from the abuse he has received over the years.

But he doesn't beat his man on the outside every single time and he doesn't tackle wrecklessly and get himself sent off so he must be rubbish de facto.
I still hanker the days where we played Tutte on the wing, we were absolutely ace back then, not narrow at all, no siree.

Don't forget also that JT always passes it backwards, which is also known by some numpties as retaining possession. You won't see Xavi, Iniesta or Fabregas doing that EVER!

Thompson is a puzzle to me. You would have thought by now we would have all made our minds up about the lad (like we do about every player who pulls the shirt on). I can honestly say that i dont know wether he is crap or good, lets face it Hilly is a good judge of a player so if he rates him then who are we to argue ?

"one for the future"
We'll be saying that when JT is 46 years old!

Not convinced we've seen the last of him...
..Unfortunatley.
I'd say his return was inevitable. Might not be this Summer, as I think he's still contracted, but we'll sign him on loan back end of next season and then permanently in the Summer of 2014.
And I'd say at any stage in the next three years, there's a 50%+ chance that there'll be a JT thread on the front page of the forum.

Lets be clear about this.
KH returning to the Dale is the best thing that's happened to the club since.... erm, well since he left. But, he's not some kind of infallible genius.
JT is his blind spot. On a good day, he can score a goal, or service a flank. The good days are rare. The much more common outcome of his selection is that we take the field with 10 men, and a boy.
Neither KH nor JT should be seen for other than what they are. In KH's case, a superb improver of players; in the case of JT, a player who has made all the improvement he is capable of, and it falls short of football league standard.

Every manager has a player, who they will back to the hills despite, often, the fans distastefulness towards him, let us not forget it was Hill that gave Evil an 18 month contract, managers make mistakes, Hill isnt an exception to this rule.
Life is a game of fate.

Servicing a flank is not to be sniffed at though

Haworth is a strange one, Hill has signed him twice now, and on both occasions, clearly not seen enough of him to earn a starting birth, but he obviously sees something in him.
