The girl with a penchant for shell suits who always used to be in the front of the queue for the Lower Loft and get down the front 2 hours before KO. (fair play) FA Cup wallcharts. |

Watching those old games, it's amazing how many of the round-the pitch advertisers have either vanished or shrunk to nearly nothing...Visionhire, Radio Rentals, Double Diamond, Lyons Maid, Midland Bank... Every cup final I used to ask the same question, "What is a Tom's Yankee Bar?" In those days, every European final or international seemed to have a Metaxa board opposite the camera. Was anyone persuaded to forget how disgusting it was and actually buy a bottle?

Where Are they now? on 12:47 - Feb 8 with 1665 views | ngbqpr | Re the OP Asda / George briefly revived Admiral a few years back I think - they did cricket gear for England, and some cheap football shirts that weren't a patch on their iconic 70s/ 80s designs - despite the craze for retro shirts, it seems the likes of Toffs & Score Draw have never been able to do a licensing deal for Admiral, so the Spain 82 shirt with the red & blue bands shoulder to shoulder and the earlier one with the red & blue stripes down the arms go for hundreds on ebay I believe Gola is one of the vintage brands bought up by Mike Ashley / Sports Direct (along with Lonsdale, Kangol etc) - he then produces loads of cheap crap that does a disservice to what were design classics. They don't do Gola boots, as far as I know - but you'll see hundreds of school kids with gola bags. I did get a tasty original gola track top for 99p on ebay!

You could add Andy's Records to that list, a great shop! I used to love Top Deck, when I was seven. Their cider shandy was excellent. On the subject of shandy, The Monument pub in Newbury used to announce the ordering of a shandy, loudly, to the entire pub with a raucous cry of "Shandy at the bar!" RFA

A 1-0 B 0-0 etc, you had to buy the programme to see what game the letters referred to. Also anyone else remember the Golden Goal tickets? Each ticket had a time printed inside and the winner was the one who got the time of the 1st goal I think it was - could have been the winning goal I suppose. Can't remember what the prize was - cash I think!
