Great news, much improving player Holden, accompanying Jordan pretty well.

Life is a game of fate.

With this great news added to the Ormerod loan, the Danny boy loan and the expected arrival of Blake I can go on holiday tonight a much happier bunny........

Notice that the deal is until the end of the season. Did we only give Trotman a one year contract too?

Edit: he's got an 18 month deal at Chesterfield so looks like it was 2 years here.

He must have impressed there.

Trotman was on a two year deal. One of the most pleasing aspects of this deal is that we have freed up 12 months worth of wages by conducting this switch. I always worried the extra year on Trotman's contract would scupper the deal.

It looks like they're benefitting from getting him fit after a shaky start.

Undoubtedly a talented and capable defender. Eyre could never have got his head right. Maybe Beech could but we've got a guaranteed consistently reasonable defender.

And the length of contract is right. If he does well, another 12 months may follow.

Good bit of business, although Trotman was improving slightly before he left, he was still nowhere near what was required. He might have potential to be a good player when he's fit, he seems to have all the attributes technically, but in our current situation we can't afford any passengers and Holden is a solid central defender. With Darby coming back in at right back I'm optimistic with how it's shaping up with Beech in charge.

Great news , Trotman never did anything for us , and Holden as slotted in nicely , I think we come off the better.

Come on Rochdale... Come on Rochdale

Good riddance to Trotman as far as I'm concerned a good piece of business

That has got to be the transfer deal of the century.

Spoke to an Oldham fan who said that Trotman was playing the same suicidal defensive game he played for us against them.

Plus his knees are knackered

In fairness, it was Eyre who first arranged the swap.

........only when he finally saw what the terraces had seen months ago that Trottman was a liability and in an effort to ward of criticism of himself Trotters was shipped out to Chesterfield.......thank god!

Trots gone - happy
Holden signed - happy

Reason for post is that most posts above are glad that Trots has gone, which I agree with but likewise ,Holden has been decent so far with a big plus for Monday, where I thought he was very good on the day at CH.

Had it been a simple signing of Holden irrespective of the other direction move, what's your thoughts.

and unfortunately it was off the field matters rather than performances which saw the move put through.

Who would have thought when we were all suicidal at our defensive frailties back in September that we would be going into January with 1 goal conceded in three games. Onwards and upwards!
