Points Deduction could equate to promotion to the Promised Land?! 00:05 - Dec 12 with 2747 viewsFredManRave

After the last five games, I'm thinking that Shefield Utds points deduction might work in our favour, and may well be the difference between us being in the Play-Offs or being in the automatic promotion places.

Thoughts?!

I've got the Power.

If we are in the top half of the table by January(we are just 4 points off ) , having effectively "re- signed" Chair, JCS, Colback . Frey , Celar with Dembele to follow and adding one or two others ...why not start looking up the table ?

Oddschecker has us at a whopping 500/1 for promotion.

Look, I’m putting this out there so somebody else doesn’t have to, ok?

Because by that time the other half of the squad will all be injured too and we'll be playing January and February without Nardi, Dunne, Field and Cooke.
This is Qpr, it's what happens

On Monday Ladbrokes had us at 100/1 to finish in top 6 and 500/1 for promotion. I think the top6 bet is a cracking good gamble and if they do then why not a few bob on the promotion one ( not automatic but via playoffs) .
It was on the outrights page of their odds machines in store

For perspective, to reach the play offs, we need just above 2 points a game. In other words, champions form for the remaining 26 games, the sort of points to games ratio we last managed around 1983.

In short, it’s not going to happen.

Stranger things have happened. In 2003/4 Palace were 19th in the then 1st Division when Dowie took over and finished 6th in 2004 beating Wet Spam in the play off final. Mind you they were relegated from the Prem the following season.

Who knows if we have a similar second half of the season as last season? I'll wake up from this dream, give me a minute.

Getting the plane to land at it's 50 points destination is one thing. Avoiding the temptation when you get there to turn off the engine, put on the shades and slap on the sun tan lotion, rather than continuing on to another destination is another.

We haven't had too many sides who have come remotely close to earning 72 points over the years. Those that did were far better sides than our current one.

Love it. A couple of wins at any point and the making the playoffs debates start immediately, invariably including what great value odds are available and the exceptional example of Crystal Palace's famous promotion campaign launched from bottom and minus 12 points on New Year's Day.

You can; I won't be; I'll (hopefully) be concentrating on 12th - 16th, which is where optimistically I think we will finish.

Can we go out yet?

Well, it was a must win game! And "We can definitely still make the play-offs!"

So what the hell, I'm in!

I agreed to go to a wedding in Mallorca the weekend of the playoffs. I'll let you all decide if that means I'm confident of automatic promotion or if I'm just hopeful we can stay out of a relegation battle...

Obvious question is; Did you agree to the wedding (yours or as a guest?) at 10pm, yesterday?

If the answer is after 10pm yesterday then that means that you, me, G.Haddock, Paul Parker and LBlock are all confident on our pending automatic promotion.

I don't see what Sheffield United's deduction has to do with it. They're one team we'll definitely not be finishing above, however well we do.

The current top 2 are averaging enough points per game to finish in the low 90's.
So provided we win at least 24 of our remaining 26 games, then we should be in with a shout.
Meanwhile in the real world...
