Northam Wall - Stoke game 15:53 - Oct 27 with 1999 views | PatfromPoole | Will we see the Northam Wall suck the ball into the net for the first ever time on Tuesday??? It might have to go to a penalty shoot-out……..

Ben Brereton from Stoke is who has been playing for Saints. His alter ego Chilean Ben Brereton-Diaz is who's going to be playing Tuesday. Much as how Mara from Paris only played a few times for us. Most the time he was from Bordeaux.
Northam Wall - Stoke game on 10:46 - Oct 28 with 1628 views | PatfromPoole | I am presuming that Cup fever has not gripped the City for this one. And despite it being half-term, the attendance will begin with a 1 rather than a 2……

Northam Wall - Stoke game on 11:27 - Oct 28 with 1594 views | dirk_doone | The Itchen is sold out. If they'd wanted a bigger crowd, they'd have opened the Kingsland instead of the Chapel. When tickets are one price all around the stadium, people are always attracted to what are usually the more expensive areas. For many of those undecided as to whether to go or not, that would have been a clincher. I don't think half-term makes any real difference. There are never many children at night games. Considering the results, our support has been good this season, with league games selling out home and away. With so many negatives this season, the one thing we can be positive about is our support. Presumably fans wanting to sit near Martin in the Itchen so they can be privy to some of his genius insight…..

Northam Wall - Stoke game on 09:10 - Oct 29 with 1350 views | PatfromPoole | Just had a look on the club ticket site. Jeez, there are a lot of empty seats for tonight. The Northam Wall looks like more of an archway..... Won't be much over 15,000, if at all.......

Northam Wall - Stoke game on 09:11 - Oct 29 with 1349 views | dirk_doone | Less than 3,000 tickets left. If they offered a last minute deal for a fiver, they could sell out. Of course, they won't. They can't be bothered. Similarly, if they'd opened the Kingsland instead of the Chapel, they'd have sold more tickets, When it's one price, the seats at the side always sell out first, which is why the Itchen has been sold out for days. Like many things the Club does, not opening the Kingsland is a false economy. The extra tickets they'd have sold to people who don't want to be behind the goal - and that's a lot of fans - would have more than covered the cost of the stewards. Once the Itchen was sold out, that's what they should have done. [Post edited 29 Oct 9:32]

Way more? Yes, it looks like it's between 3,000 and 4,000. There's one block which is mostly empty: the one in the Chapel that's next to the away fans. Not many fans want to be in that on, so why put it on sale, when they could have opened a block in the centre of the Kingsland instead? [Post edited 29 Oct 10:03]

Where is Salisbury Saint when you need him??? Just added up the empty seats in each block of the home sections (sad old me, I know), which came to the following:- Chapel - 2,108 Northam - 1,839 Itchen (blocks 1 and 2) - 236 TOTAL - 4,183 So not a whole lot more than 3,000, apologies. Based on Stoke only bringing about 1,000 (as Nick mentioned), plus the whole of the Kingsland being shut, I would guess that is about 14,000 empty seats in total. I would therefore say we are looking at about 18,000 or so. More than I had thought TBH.

Looking at it from how many tickets have been sold so far I would guess about 14,000, I would think that although the general seats have sold out in the Itchen, hospitality might have around 1,000 empty seats.

Obviously it's a bit later than when you did it, but there are 3,821 tickets left now. It's a fairly quick and easy process if you place an online calculator over the seating plan and just type in the numbers and plus signs. The Kingsland has about 10,000 seats so the 3 stands available would need to be sold out to get a crowd over 20,000. So you and Nick are right with your estimates. It's going to be somewhere between 15,000 and 18,000. I still think the Club made a mistake closing the Kingsland. If they hadn't, there would have been a bigger crowd - probably over 20,000. I also find that when you are in a packed stand staring at an empty one on the other side of the pitch, it spoils the atmosphere, and makes it seem like a pre-season friendly, and that in itself has probably put some people off going. The Club certainly doesn't make much of an effort to sell tickets. I guess they feel they don't need to as the league games sell out anyway. [Post edited 29 Oct 15:40]

Surely the existence of THE NORTHAM WALL will nullify the effect on the atmosphere that closing the kingsland has. 90 minutes plus of the greatest support ever, song after song about pompey and constant backing that clapping at 100miles an hour brings. I assume Dortmund will have spotters in our ground too this season to learn from THE WALL about how great an atmosphere can be if you just focus on the important thing, singing about rivals non stop

True. The Dormund spotters will be the ones in the yellow shirts; not the fat people in the pink ones. [Post edited 29 Oct 17:55]
