Last year, I think? That speech and those like it have propelled her to where she is.

No crawling on her knees before the ‘The Market’ like the shower we’re saddled with, is there? Just watch the whored media here and across France and Germany go for her, especially if she makes an early move to nationalise The Bank of Italy as she’s vowed to do.

With very little variation for the last couple of weeks, and the applause was getting louder day-on-day.

Have you read much Chesterton, Gwyn?

A smattering to be honest, Loh. It’s the themes not just the content I enjoy.

As with a lot of that style of writing I sometimes find balancing the religions background present in the prose a little tough to get through but I like it because it makes me think.

Well, that’s the key. True literature provokes. If it doesn’t do that it’s just chewing gum for the eyes.

Chesterton was, as you know, hugely prolific; and there’s much more to him than the apologetics and the Father Brown series for which he’s probably best remembered.

The Napoleon of Notting Hill and The Flying Inn are two of my favourites. Both are still in print, though if you’re like me you’d probably prefer a drive up to Hay and pick up vintage copies.

“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”
― G.K. Chesterton

Must admit, I've never heard of him, a quick google and I come across that.. Brilliant.

You read the Pomentsarev book (and recommended it to me) yet you promote someone who appears to be of the religious right who goes on about the "woke" left.

I get that the Overton window is slewed to the right these days but come on!

I know absolutely nothing about the girl to be honest, I just saw the graph and burst out laughing.

That’s the same political compass Trampie posts up from time to time to ‘prove’ that everybody apart from Leanne Wood, and presumably himself, is on the Right. 😊

It's nice to see that one of her heroes when she was growing up was Benito Mussolini, and she has expressed support for Hungary's right-winter leader Viktor Orban, as well as Putin.

I wonder how long she will last?? This new government will be Italy's 74th in the 79 years since the fall of Italy's last far-right government, Mussolini’s Fascists — nearly one government per year!!

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

I’d love you to explain to me what was ‘far right’ about Mussolini?

I mean, how do you quantify that? The PFI ushered in what was Europe’s first welfare state, an advanced one at that. The introduction of the old age pension, the introduction of free school meals that went hand-in-hand with a mass literacy drive, maternity leave, ground-breaking health and safety at work legislation, absolutely gargantuan public work schemes that practically solved the most pressing cases of poverty and unemployment.

What do you mean when you say ‘far right?’

Mussolini started off as a left wing ideologist, but then turned the opposite way. He was an imperialist, and they never got the trains to run on time either , it was a myth

He started out on the Left, way out on the Left, before arriving at a Radical Centrist position; which is exactly what Fascismo was, a syncretic philosophy.

” Fascism entirely agrees with Mr. Maynard Keynes, despite the latter’s prominent position as a Liberal. In fact, Mr. Keynes’ excellent little book, The End of Laissez-Faire might, so far as it goes, serve as a useful introduction to fascist economics. There is scarcely anything to object to in it and there is much to applaud.”

Mussolini, 1926.

But Lohengin, its a well known left wing fact that all evil people are right wing!

If it's tory its bad, if it's bad it must be tory.

Mussolini must be nearly as right wing as Liz Truss, well in between her and Bojo.

What next, someone will say Hitler was left wing because he was leader of a national Socialist workers party! Maybe not.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
