If he's not getting any more signings like he said in the press conference. It's going to be a sh*t season. If the yanks don't invest, there Flynn Downes type profits days are over. Not sure what they are trying to achieve.

He probably will be. To Martins credit, we have acquired some talented players in the last year or so. Downes, Obafemi (I know we wanted him under Cooper), Ntcham, Darling and Wood have all been good signings. Allen too, though he probably would have ended up here regardless. What we’re clearly not doing, is making anywhere near the most of the players we’ve got. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don’t think there’s much chance of anyone getting any money to spend to be honest. Maybe a couple of frees or loans on deadline day.

The very last things we need are Martin signings We need to free ourselves of him asap. Plenty of experienecd operators out there that would welcome managing our pppproper club

He is 28 and pllayed 10 games for Stoke last season and in a position that we have cover for. I think this one is a goer

Wigan £0 And fans are demanding EVEN MORE despite the predicament we are in. All just to give to a sub par manager to get himself out of a hole that his system has got us into - and will likely continue to get us into. This latest narrative that we are somehow hard done by is just ludicrously out of touch with reality. We have a budget and spend money that most of the league can only dream of. Some haven’t spent a single penny in years on transfers. For shame. [Post edited 23 Aug 2022 9:52]

How can Martin send out Garrick Whittaker Joseph and Wbb frm hs squad without agreement for replacements/ It is a saving of around £500k in wages. He would be better off telling the word the club is skint and Ollie Cooper, Cotterill, Abduallai, and MacFadyan are going to be thrown in the deep end. This is something the fans can buy into and forget all about top 6.

Because we are clearly operating in the red. We have spent millions yet again this season bringing the likes of Allen and Darling in. In order to have done that business early on, we would have had to find a way to offload some of the wage bill, which we have done with Joseph et al - players Martin wasn’t going to use anyway. If we offload someone it doesn’t mean their wages are then free to spend on more players. Again, I’m not one of the owners biggest fans, but this latest attempt to blame them for… actually I don’t even know what they are being blamed for… is ludicrous all the same. Lack of signings on 16:08 - Aug 23 with 2712 views | Kerouac | Martin had; Bennett, Cabango, Naughton, Latibeaudiere & Cooper ...as centre-backs (he used Manning there too) + two loans of... Williams, Burns ....and we leaked goals like buggery. He said we leaked goals because the defenders he had weren't good enough. Some of us said we leaked goals because of his ludicrous 'system'. So Martin then chose to buy two centre backs leaving him with... Darling - £2m Wood - £300k Bennett, - freezed him out Cabango, Naughton, Latibeaudiere & Cooper freezed him out ...and we are still leaking goals like buggery. If he had continued to play Bennett he could have saved 1 transfer fee and 1 wage. He could have used that money to purchase a Right-Wing-Back. If he had chosen to play a flat back four and keep what he had that would have left him with... RB - Latibeaudiere CB - Naughton CB - Cabango CB - Bennett CB - Cooper LB - Manning Add up Darling, Wood and Sorinola's transfer fees and what have you got? £2.5m ish and 3 wages He could have used that money to sign a right-wing back and left wing-back with pace (so we had options to play them on the wing if the situation required or switch to Martin's system if he thought 4 at the back wasn't working)...and enough left over to purchase a centre-midfielder (so we had Grimes, Allen, Fulton and another). We'd be in a far healthier position. If he had kept Hamer and gave Benda his head he wouldn't have needed to sign Fisher...saving us £400k transfer fee and £10.5k a week. More than enough to have loaned a decent young Premier League striker for the season to put pressure on the front two. This is his mess.

Lack of signings on 16:24 - Aug 23 with 2690 views | jasper_T | Many fans don't realise how much of a deficit Championship clubs run at, and assume everything is at worst breaking even. So when a player then leaves there must be spare money lying around. Basic maths, innit. Reducing the wage bill by £500k is a drop in the bucket when a typical Championship wage bill is £20-25m, on an income of £15m. The club borrowed £13m two years ago and that's long gone now, realistically we're not capable of paying that back any time soon. Give it a few years and the debts grow rapidly. Can't fault the owners for telling the manager "no, we've got no money left". That's just facts and staying true to the sustainable club idea that everyone says they agree with when it suits them.

Come on put a sales column with a net spend as well.Only tells half the story otherwise. We have recently sold Downes Rodon Go back a bit further James and Ollie B. Some clubs have not received much at all from sales so it's very relevant. Not trying to defend Russ but painting a false picture is pointless.
