France chagrin on 10:31 - Sep 19 with 3185 views | Dr_Winston | It is quite amusing watching the French throw a tantrum over the Aussies pulling out of the deal because obviously the French wouldn't dream of pulling out a military arrangement that didn't suit their needs. No sir. Be interesting to see what happens when the Combined EU Army that we were promised would never happen gets put together. Good on the Aussies anyway. Natural allies and partners that we shamefully turned our backs on in the past.

I don't know the details, but was a contract signed with the French? They aren't natural allies, we just colonised and ruled them for a while and they still have Lizzie as head of state | | | | Login to get fewer ads

They're as natural allies as the USA! Didn't France do something similar to us back in the 80's involving jet fighters?

From memory they demanded far more work on the Eurofighter than their contribution justified. Then they threw a paddy and left the project to develop the Rafale themselves.

Was thinking of you yesterday Loh, I met a guy from Birmingham couple weeks ago (he was originally from Crynant) he was telling me the story of how his fathers Lancaster bomber was shot down over Brest whilst carrying out a raid on the U boat pens using a single tall boy bomb. Anyway, he promised me a copy of his fathers flying log (he was in the the dam buster squadron) next time he was down, and fair play to him he gave it to me last night, I've only flicked through it at the moment, but it makes very interesting reading for anyone that's into that kind of stuff.

Would that by the same French who's CAP shafted Welsh farmers? The same Frrnch that vetoed the Uks Application to join the common market? The French are no friends of The Uk. [Post edited 19 Sep 2021 21:46]
