Trust statement on 20:45 - Jun 16 by ReslovenSwan1 | I am working on the basis that some SCST activist members driving legal action want the club to be a sustainable league 2 team like the good old days. They are people of low expectation with a fatalist negative streak just as Dylan Thomas described. "Swansea - The graveyard of man's ambitions". The 'sell outs' never read this crap. The infrastructure is in place for them to inherit when armageddon comes (as it must according to them). They loathe Huw Jenkins for taking the club away from them such that the club has fans all over the world and even now associated with best practice. No one would associate Swansea with best practice in anytime of its pre 2002 history. It will be run 'by the people for the people' like Exeter city. It will have a board of local big shots wearing sharp suits and shades in the summer as nice floral dresses for the missus. The object will be to get to league 1 and big games v Portsmouth and Rotherham. This is the future with the SCST. £1m will be enough for Connor and Matt to get them off the wages bill. Vincent Tan is currently sinking piles in Canton for their new academy. The next Joey Allen, Rodon, Roberts and Cabango will not go any further west than junction 33. Some buy the rhetoric of years of forum propoganda. Not me. All that the forum sages have said is false. "Hedge funds" -wrong "Asset strippers" - wrong "They will leave when the parachute stop" - wrong " They will never invest wrong" - wrong. "They will flip the club" - wrong. "They are taking money out of the club" - wrong (According to Mr Birch head of English football league and a chartered accountant and jolly good fellow to boot.) Connor Roberts ,Ben Davies, Joey Allen and Joe Rodon were born in South west Wales and are Swansea made. Developed in the academy masterminded and actually built by the so called "sellouts". There have been many specimens like Joes and Connors but they were lost when the club was run by losers. I am proud of them. Connor is now world famous and should thank the sellouts who backed him all the way from the age of 10. I just look forward to when the whingers are gone. I expect the US people to drive them out of the club for good. It you want to wretch be my guest. The moment of truth is here. Anything can happen in court and all the possibilites are bad for the SCST. The funders are licking their lips and will win whatever happens. [Post edited 16 Jun 2021 20:50]

Didn't happen until covid knocked everyone on their financial arse, when Cat 1 is not really cost effective for Championship clubs in the first place (by design). The kids can do without the second jacuzzi, Cat 2 won't hurt the local prospects coming through in the next few years as long as opportunities to play exist. New staff, new scouts, new players coming into the academy this summer. Even a few big transfer fees rumoured for u23s players. The people who have been anticipating the imminent closure of the academy are being kept waiting.

It was always likely post relegation. The club can spend £3.5m a year on an Academy or invest it in the first team.

The Trust statement says nothing of the sort. It is not about what WILL happen and everything about what COULD happen without protections in place. It is also, since you are pretending otherwise, not only about current owners but also about any owners that there could be in the future being able to do such things as a result of the protections that do not exist for the Trust. The Trust needs to be able to protect itself and the club in to perpetuity. That is the whole reason foe the Trust existing . It can only do that in one of two ways - either have protections over its position to prevent anyone removing it, or alternatively by having a pot of money that it can use in conjunction with other partners to step in and gain control of the club in the future. You appear to pretend that fan shared ownership models are of necessity small minded and lead to small clubs. Tell that to Dortmund or Bayern Munich. It will happen here of course. The nonsense about the Super League will see to that. Any actual supporter should be pleased to support a club that is ahead of its time and embraces the value of a strong fan ownership partner. It has enormous commercial benefits as well as benefiting the community and club in the longer term.

The nail. very firmly hit on the head - this was a one off chance to ensure the Swans would never be at the mercy of owners like Petty again, and the likes of Jenkins and Dineen pumped out the rhetoric and basked in the glory of it. But when it came down to it, rather than follow through on all of those promises, they sold us out, stabbed the Trust in the back and ensured that the supporters organisation could not protect the club in the future... ...and they did that by devious means and they did to ensure they were not just rich from a sale, but mega rich and with long, very lucrative employment contracts at the club too. History will judge them - especially if all the dirty little secrets like faking Board meeting Minutes to force out longstanding Directors (again so they could cash in) come out in a court of law.

The "protecting the club" rhetoric is very dubious. I see words but nothing else. Covid hit the club hard with no fans and Premier league players on high salaries still on the books. More South Wales Sunday school preacher rhetroic of "stabs in the back" etc. The good protestants lap it up. There was a black hole in the accounts. Debts needed to be paid. Where were the protectors of he club? Nowhere. Drinking sherry with the QC in a London gentlemens club somewhere perhaps. Nothing changes perhaps they bumped into a few Socialist grandees on the way to the House of Lords. The club was bailed out not by the SCST but by the owner of Houston Dynamos and DC United with hard Yankee cash. The SCST has no money and now after 19 years decides its needs to protect itself from people that bailed out the club. In 2106 the SCST stated selling (and protecting itself presumably) was "not their preference". The club is better off with out them. I hope this is the result of the action. The supporters organiation has no judgement with regard to risks and investments. Without this understanding they cannot help the club. The holding at present is "very high risk" by going to court it will be "super high risk" and if they win after eye watering fees they will probably be in a zero risk moribund ghost fund. They tell me it cannot invest in global funds like my pension. [Post edited 17 Jun 2021 20:18]

The black hole was filled by the convertible loan note and part payments of transfer fees for Celina and Rodon. Between £5-10m aparently to help Winter pay of all the liabilties after £7m of ticket revenue was lost. The black hole was created by Covid and Andre Ayew deciding he wanted to stay at Swansea and not go anywhere else on £82,000 a week. The owners of Houson Dyanmo and DC United coughed up the dough. Is th black hole filled?. I assume it has as I have seen no reports of creditors going to court. well done Uncle Sam. They put their money where their mouh is.

Thanks for that reply but the hole I referred to was that of several years earlier and not in the covid era. I believe the previous chairman screwed up badly, the Trust was asleep at the wheel and fans purporting to be fans back stabbed and sold the club to the worse buyers possible,ie,those with no money of their own to put in. A complete dogs breakfast and there are many to blame, which reminds me of this court action which is ,apparently,to right wrongs. Yeah, alright. Bottom line. Our club tumbled out of the Prem in shocking circumstances and a wonderful opportunity to see it pre eminent in south Wales for a generation blown. Swansea City FC has no competition at all west of the city. The marketing of the club was woeful . This is the legacy of Jenkins and Dineen apart from civil war amongst fans. We've seen lovely lisa rip into you but you hold your end up very well. You are without doubt being pilloried, ridiculed and slagged off and to your credit you stand up tall Gotta give it to you

The US owners have money. Not billions admittedly but perhap upto £10m has came into the club to cover costs. This has proven to me at least that the US people are reasonable owners who will help out when required. They will want to see some sort of profit to prove their capabilities. Kaplan actually is a major player in a huge investment organisation. I suspect he could easily find a buyer for the SCSTs shares. But in all honestly why would he bother? They are not a particularly constructive bunch he can do business with. He has tried to placate the fans with the lowest season ticket price in the Championship tied with QPR. Maybe there will be decent signing or two. I also suspect he is a perfectly decent fellow and Swansea city are lucky to have him on board. He is not going to waste money on Swansea. He wants to develop it using their investment craft. The court case may be an opportunity to remove the troublesome minor shareholders from the club. I suspect any costs relaiting to the court case will affect the club. The US owners are committed to making it profitable so any cost from the legal action will be attibuted to the club and paid for from club assets at least in the long term.

I think I read the legal costs couldn’t be burdened on the club, it could also be further evidence to support the Trust’s case.

I wouldn't use the phrase 'bailed out ' as the money given was a loan and will have to be repaid or converted to shares.
