4,000 sold already, more by this stage than when we were in the Premier League! Anyone know how many we had last year? Would've guessed in the 7-8,000 range...

Season tickets selling well on 14:17 - Jul 5 with 3121 views | PinnerPaul | MAY know more after 5.00pm today. Although I suspect, clubs will have to wait for 'official guidance' from the FA after they (FA) have clarified what , if anything Boris says about football stadia today. That's pretty clear then Paul!

As someone who was pretty on board with reopening, the sudden lurch to "sod it, everything" is pretty overwhelming

It seems they really are just going to chuck everything at the vaccines and hope it's fine.

Another thread I guess, but it is what they do with flu, which another story I read today, reminds us, that 8 - 20,000 die from that in a 'normal' year, and that's with flu vaccine now free to over 50s. Another stat - 1,900 die EVERY day in the UK - not all natural causes obviously - government can't be expected to prevent every early death. Obviously there are degrees of government intervention - smoking ads ban, medical research funding, road traffic safety etc etc - but we DO live with early death now - how much we're prepared to live with covid deaths after the last 18 months is the key I think.

Fantastic news and no reason why the club should contemplate not opening up fully. Lockdowns and masks have become incredibly divisive and people seem entrenched within their opinions, which is their right, but I can't help but feel relieved that the end is fast approaching and I can let the wife have a few hours without me on a Saturday!

Our club is starving, there's no way they won't go full capacity if they're allowed. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Unlikely unless the Chinese bowl us another googly. Be interesting to see what crowds will be like, been to Wimbledon and London theatre last week and it was noticeable me and the wife were amongst considerably few older people. Given our support base I’m wondering if we struggle much above 10,000.

Case numbers are certainly much higher but deaths are still very lows and haven’t risen in any way near to case numbers. And it seems that most of the cases are the younger generations hence the low hospital admission rates. There is no doubt that the vaccines have played a significant part so far. Thing is we do need to live with it, other deaths that could have been prevented will be the real Covid deaths. And they will be far greater in number yet remain unreported.

agree we need to live it with it and not suggesting we never go back to normal just seems a big leap to have no restrictions at all, I'd have thought things like masks in shops & public transport would have been worth sticking with for a while. Does feel like we've gone away from what the scientists are saying again which hasn't gone well the other times we did that

At the risk of turning this political (sorry Clive), the Conservative Parliamentary Party would have turned on Boris if the lockdown wasn't to take place on the 19th. IDS (what a remarkable comeback he has made & is really the head of the party) has already blamed By Election defeats on the delay in June.

Thanks Brian. I agree we are not through it yet. I will be continuing to wear a mask when entering and leaving the stadium and when using the concourse at half time for the foreseeable future. I've been double jabbed but not everyone has yet. Also, it's not just covid but other respiratory infections are available as well. I agree with DaveB. This seems a bit too much in one go, particularly with infections on the up. It seems like it's down to personal responsibility for yourself and others. Well good luck with that.

I think it’s sensible to continue to wear masks in confined spaces now we’ve got used to wearing them.

Can I ask until when? We're never going to be COVID free and it will possibly become a seasonal problem like Flu so where do we draw the line and say enough is enough? This mask issue has become very divisive in a very quick period of time - and will divide people for a lot longer yet - but I'm trying to see both sides.

Once the restrictions are totally lifted and the wearing of masks is voluntary and as long as there is no backlash against those who continue to wear one, then I think I will still carry a mask with me for my regular Central line journeys in to and back out of town during rush hours - especially if I am forced back in to the Strand 4-5 days a week in the coming weeks. Certainly until all my 3 girls have got double jabs (they have all just had their first) I would see no harm in continuing to wear it on the tube. Then come the winter I would envisage probably still wearing a mask just on the tube to try and stop getting the usual winter lurgies and not just Covid. Can't imagine it doing any harm other than getting the odd stare or comment from the brigade who were against 'face nappy' wearing in the first place.

For me I'm going to stop wearing them from 19th July but will carry one in my pocket in case I'm in a shop which requires them - which I'm sure will happen - and also for the Tube in case the only seat is next to someone wearing one so they don't feel vulnerable. I'm hoping both sides allow the others to make their own minds up but fear that the anti-maskers have more than a few idiots who will target others wearing them. I imagine the most I'll get from someone wearing one when I'm not is a dirty look or called selfish.

I think it should be a personal choice whether to continue to wear one or not.As others have said,I will have one with me and small bottle of sanitizer with me for a while. It will seem strange getting on the train to london on Saturday,as I haven’t been there for virtually 18 months.
Season tickets selling well on 15:55 - Jul 6 with 1465 views | Northernr | When I've been in Tokyo with work the subway is always a mixture of people wearing masks and those without. Think ours will be like that now. Absolutely no idea at all why anybody should cop even a passing comment for wearing one but we live in strange times. If I want to sit on the tube in a silly hat, or a pair of comedy glasses then I will. Some people even go on in a Chelsea shirt. I'll probably stick with one one the tube - it felt like a fcking travelling disease box even before this.
