I do hope we're not going to wait until the last game of the season to ensure safety?

Based on last two games, against bottom 5 teams....I am a little concerned. Pretty unlikely we'll go down but I can see us in the bottom 6....

Poll: Are we staying up?

What about the success we’ve made off the field? The real structural stuff like balanced finances, a productive youth team, the community work? This week we brought a training ground.

When did we ever win London derbies regularly? Or progress in cup competitions? The 90s?

What do those in the club need to do so prove they are hurting? Flaggelation? Hari Kari?

I think we need to get a grip. This negative bullshit was bad enough when we were genuinely shit and fielding scabs but it’s twice as bad when the club in making genuine and meaningful progress.

Chill. We lost a game of football tonight. You know the drill.

I am not taking about off the field things I am talking about what is happening on the pitch. It doesn't cost anything to have certain standards. This thread is not about off pitch matters so therefore I have not mentioned them as the subject heading is clearly relating to what happens on the pitch.
This century we have beaten Chelsea, Fulham, Arsenal and Tottenham in the Premier League. I don't expect to win every derby but it would be nice not to keep losing them in the Championship. Dropping 17 points out of 21 is woeful this season and we won't move forward as a club dropping so many points.
Sure we never win any cups but at least we could have a real go particularly when so many other clubs seem happy to get knocked out to concentrate on the league. More often than not we fall at the first round and it appears only we fans care as it keeps happening.
All I am saying is that it would be nice to hear the club saying this has to change and can't continue like this and I fail to see how you can turn round and call that negative bullshit when I want them to be more positive which costs the club nothing. I don't disagree that progress is being made off the pitch but I am talking about on the pitch. I can show you real negativity with the way I am being treated at work so if I don't come across as positive enough for you that's too bad...

Where exactly do you think we should be in the football pyramid?
We are historically where we should be, a few years in the top division and a few years in the 3rd tier but since the mid 60’s this is us, get used to it.

We have spent 49 seasons higher than the third tier and 38 at that level since we joined the Football League:-

Top level - 23 seasons
Second - 26 seasons
Third - 38 seasons

Our whole history woulf sugest that we are currently at our given level.

However, if we take just the last 50 years, we should be yo-yoing between the Premier & the Championship:-

Top level - 23 seasons
Second - 24 seasons
Third - 3 seasons

In recent times, the last 20 years, we are very much where we should be:-

Top level - 3 seasons
Second - 14 seasons
Third - 3 seasons

Most of the 14 seasons in the second tier have been spent in the bottom half of the division.

God, that's depressing isn't it

If you're going to pick a more recent date, other than our entry into the the FL, surely it would be 1993. That's when everything changed for everyone.

I will ask again - what exactly do you want the club to say and who at the club would you like to say it?

You seem to be putting a lot of emphasis on London derbies. Outside of local bragging rights, they are no more important than any other game. As far as I'm concerned positive progress is being made at the club. The football is entertaining, we've seen getting on for 130 goals in our games so far, we play good football and have a good, young squad. If you think that someone like Lee Hoos coming out and saying publicly that it's just not good enough and all the players have the wrong attitude how do you think that will play out?

Good post and completely agree. We are all frustrated will results in London derbies but in general are not putting in any less effort more a combination of back luck and playing superior teams. Really not sure what the club are expected to say/do to placate the fans.

Plus, I think that every time one of the staff do a podcast their work rate, ambition and awareness is clearly evident.

If I thought otherwise I'd say it.

Poll: Player of the Year (so far)

When did they simplify the Pyramid (as opposed to the old North and South Stuff?

IN essence the Div1 to 4 style (then into NL) that we have now?

IN that time we're a top 2 divisions side by and large with a couple of years in the old Div 3 from 01-04 right?

I don't think really discussing things say from before 1960 really are especially relevant as footballs totally changed since that time in terms of the size of clubs, how they are perceived etc.

The last season of North & South was 57/58, so we had 9 seasons in Division three plus 3 seasons in this century.

Cheers Tel.

Broadley speaking then 1960 onwards is probably best barometer I would think.

Just to be a smart arsd prck again because, well, if I have to moderate this thread every year you can allow me this.

We have been awful since the resumption. Awful. Far worse than I ever thought we'd be, far worse than I think anybody every thought we'd be. Complete crap. One victory out of seven and likely to be one out of nine.

Despite this - nine points clear of the drop.

Had we lost every game 6-0 we'd be five points clear with only two games left and Hull and Luton playing each other Saturday.

I think this restart has proven a number of things to me. Not sure if you agree.

1. The squad is much thinner than we all thought.
2. The club obviously didn't think we would be playing for another month and got the training schedules wrong.
3. We managed to get by for nearly half a season with one on loan striker and no real back up. That really can't happen again.
4. Despite being a squad of the 'right sorts' it's been pretty obvious that the agents of our top players have told them to not over do it before a potential move away.
5. We desperately need a dedicated defensive coach in the backroom.
6. The general fitness of the squad needs to be consistently a lot higher to play this style of football on a week to week basis.
7. We need to have a plan B style occasionally because we ain't Man City or Barcelona.
8. We need a leader as a captain. The only one we appear to have now is Ball and perhaps Cameron.
9. If fans never get back to watch matches Lumley is going to be the best keeper on the planet.

Never knowingly right.
