chalk and cheese....seeingrochdale playing one of the worlds most famous clubs at one of the worlds top grounds versus seeing them play against lincoln at willbutts.

Well whatever floats your boat as they say, im 100% Dale through and through have been since I saw my first game in 1966. You're right, it is chalk and cheese, stuff these big clubs with their fake fans and the obsessed media.

With Utd in Europa League action tomorrow there is a good chance that the starting line up v Astana will be very similar to the team v Dale next Wednesday.
Solskjaer has already confirmed Romero,Tuanzebe,Fred and Greenwood will start.

There are tickets available to buy in the home end for cheaper than in the away end. With plenty of Dale fans having United as their first or second team plus maybe having armchair United supporting mates, wouldn't surprise me if a fair few Dale fans were in the home end.

Strange to say, that a guy sat behind me had travelled all the way from Milan to see the Mighty Dale.

He even has a sense of humour …… told me this in the car today.

Fella arrives late to a Roma match and is looking for his seat but then spots one right near the half way line with a great view so he strolls over and asks the chap next to the empty seat if it is free.

Yes, says the chap seated. In fact it is my dead wife's seat. We have been coming to see Roma for 40 years but sadly she is no longer with us as she has passed away. Chap standing says I don't wish to be disrespectful, but would you mind if I sat there today. No says the seated chap, you would be honouring my dearly departed wife.

So half time comes around and the chap who arrived late said he couldn't believe how lucky he has been to get such a good seat and asked why the bereaved supporter had not offered it to any of his friends or family. He replied …. "they are all at the funeral!"

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!

Personally think that is a very, very low number. There's hundreds being given out now to local kids football clubs and other organisations. Makes some sort of sense in that parents will have to attend.

The decision around the pricing was wrong. It’s affected the number of fans who are going, something that was always pretty predictable.

Is that away tickets or just in general Judd being given away?
I think it's a shite away following regardless of cost considering the locality and the stadium etc, to take more to Spurs on a fooking horrendous night for travelling at the time is ridiculous.

Away fans. I've no idea about how the pricing for Rochdale was arrived at but it would appear to have priced a large number out of attending.

Some are happy to pay the fee, some begrudgingly. Coach prices are not enormously marked up, which is a good thing I suppose.

But it can’t be judged regardless of the cost. To a lot of people that is far too much to justify.

For example, while the subject is on Wembley, a bloke I used to work with who has a passing interest in football and had seen the home game on tv decided to go to Wembley with his mate simply “because it was a tenner”.

Anyone with knowledge around our potential fan base would have foreseen this sort of number, I thought 6000 would have been a good following at those prices. It really would have been.

Chatting to a United ST holder for many years it seems the away teams have absolutely zero input in pricing for cup games at Old Trafford at all, and they get almost told this is the price and that's that.

If you deduct the fact we don't really have to travel cost wise it kind of works out the price for a normal local ish away league 1 game for many though

I genuinely thought we had a decent enough potential fan base to turn up in big numbers for what is essentially the biggest cup draw we could EVER dream of getting and hadnt seen drawn for 30 years,it's a fooking terrible following,so yes regardless of cost if you think of the occasion, stadium etc and the regularity in which it has happened it's shite.

So EVERY team that plays them in the cup must "agree" as the price never changes, if others had any real input the price they charged us you'd say would fluctuate compared to other previous matches, or is it just a massive coincidence every single team agrees to that specific figure when playing there.

Opinions. Each to their own. 5-6000 is probably around our potential fanbase as seen by the Cup runs in recent years. We’ve achieved a number within those parameters again.

Some potential supporters cannot justify those prices and should not be criticised for it. Some will simply be unable to afford it.

Who knows. But there’s a process to follow if they aren’t mutually agreed where any dispute can be referred.

The chance every away team in the cup agrees to pay the exact same amount every time is zero let's face it, there's a bigger chance of winning the lottery, leads you to believe they call the shots and say here's how much we normally charge away teams, how does that sound whilst flexing their muscles.... that is if what ive been told's true but it does add up,hes no reason to tell fibs really

Why the hell are we beating ourselves up over this? As has been pointed out, this game isn't the huge attraction it would once have been

FFS let's just go to the game - those of us who've decided to, or could afford to, or could find the time to do so - and bloody well let those who couldn't mind their own business

Exactly, and didn’t want my posts to come across as anything but understanding why those who do go, will and those who don’t, won’t.

That’s a really rubbish looking sentence.

And that's how i read your posts

It's almost not worth the hassle of getting through early rounds of cup competitions if we then draw major teams and spend the time between the draw and the game finding ways to diminish ourselves, when there's absolutely no need

And perhaps you have succinctly nailed it there- not the attraction it once may have been.

I would suggest at £25 or so it may very well have been.

I suspect (but could be wrong) that Utd had us over a barrel with the pricing. Even if we had some potential input, their leverage in terms of future loan players etc would've meant we had our hands tied

I fully agree that a significant reduction in price might've tempted (or allowed) more takers, possibly a few hundred more, but still less than 6000. I wish it were different, but don't see it as a particularly poor following, especially when all factors are taken into account including our recent form

We have no idea whatsoever about how ticket pricing was agreed in line with competition rules.

I know that Manu have been dreadful with regard image rights but would love to know how pricing was agreed.
