Welsh National Team 20:16 - Feb 17 with 2356 viewshitchinjack

As much as I loved the 2nd half today and the possible outcome of this FA Cup run. My thoughts turned to the national side. With the qualifiers starting next month, the likes of Connor Roberts, Dan James, Joe Rodon, Ben Woodburn., Ethan Ampadu, David Brooks. Harry Wilson, Tyler Roberts, Tom Lawrence, Joe Morrell along with the experience of Bale, Ramsey and Allen the future is looking bright.

Never thought much of Morrell in the u21s. Not sure what he was supposed to offer. Small, passably neat and tidy I suppose. Bristol think highly of him, though.

Matt Smith tearing up the Dutch second division. George Williams playing well at Forest Green. Rabbi Matondo made his first start for Schalke today. Regan Poole (not his biggest fan personally) getting football at Newport.

Before long we might actually have depth at international level.

That's if Dan chooses Wales over England.

He's played right through the youth set up and has been involved in a few senior squads, and yes his only cap so far is in a friendly so he could change, but I doubt that.

In my opinion, he should start v Trinidad and Tobago up in Wrexham next month with Giggs having an eye to using him in the competitive match v Slovakia the following Sunday.

Him and Bale playing together could be lethal.

Declan Rice was involved with Ireland for just as long. It can still happen.

But it won't.

ROI are shite though. They scored 1 goal in the 6 autumn games last year, but Wales were already out of site by the time that went in.

As a talented youngster, I think playing for Wales has become very attractive. Much less pressure on you than playing for England who’s fans expect you to win every WC. Also, there seems to be a good vibe about the Wales team right now. Less arrogant “superstars” I guess. Also more chance of playing more games.

We've got the players.

But do we have the manager?......

I have my doubts

The difference with Declan Rice is I think he's only got Irish grandparents and getting him in their setup was always a bit cynical and dodgy.

In addition to his Welsh dad, DJ lives and plays in Wales, and has done since leaving school. Much stronger connection there.
