Yes. I bought a new ST for the East and asked the same question as you about my existing South ST tickets.
They told me I would be sent new ones to replace my existing South ST cards

New cards = them not being recognised by the scanners at the turnstile = big queues first couple of home matches = irate fans = same as last couple of seasons = nothing changes = get down there early to ensure a hassle free start to the season.
