Ms. Abbott, it's not because you are a woman...... on 12:13 - Feb 18 by swanjackal | Not a very liberal attitude there, or even expressive of equality :P I disagree though. Discussing their ideas and giving expression to why they are incorrect is the correct way of doing things. Mocking their intelligence is just a cheap shot at point scoring, just like judging their appearance. I am guilty of doing both, but I'm not hypocritical enough, or faux offended, in this instance to not see it ;) But again, neither effect the false claim of sexism/misogyny made by her too. I said mocking someone's ability to think, not their intelligence. Their ability to think may be determined by all sorts of things, not only intelligence. In Abbott's case, for example, she is undoubtedly intelligent, but her ability to think (by which I imply a measure of rationality) is clouded by her prejudices and her political beliefs. Equality is not about pretending everyone is equal, it's about judging people based on only the attributes necessary to perform their job or function, or role, or whatever else it may be, not extraneous irrelevancies. So her ability to think is absolutely fair game the way she looks is not, the fact she is a woman is not, the fact she is black is not. And yet most criticism (as evidenced on this thread) refers to her looks. I'm a meritocrat, not a commie. I disagree totally with discrimination (including positive discrimination) and believe that people should be judged on only that which is relevant. If we were talking about a model (as an example), then the way they look is obviously relevant. In that case, criticising their ability to think would be irrelevant and unfair.
Ms. Abbott, it's not because you are a woman...... on 12:45 - Feb 18 with 800 views | perchrockjack | Lisa. You are doubting her ability to think so really your comments are no better than others on here. Don't fook yourself into believing scum like Abbott can be defended as you ve done so So she s intelligent is she. Therefore her stances on a Miriad of issues is exacerbated by her utterances which are as bitter and racist as is possible Throw in the Corbyn tryst and you have the ultimate hypocrite Lohengrin. Your eloquence is misguided in this instance Why, Lisa, do I get the impression you re really as arrogant ,as patronising as anyone on here. Your assessment, judgement and opinion are no more valid or correct than anyone else here

I agree with your first paragraph partly, but it holds no relevance to a specific idea, and if you believed in fairness, mocking someone's cognition and not just addressing the point in any way should be off the table, and just deal with the actual issue at hand. Rationality differs for different people though too, and just because they have different leanings to you does not indicate them being an "idiot" or "moron" and does not justify mocking their thought process. You in essence are dehumanising them just as much as anyone mocking their appearance. So point stands. No, I agree, equality is affording the same respects on people regardless of their outlining factors, hence why Abbott's claim of misogyny fails from the start. It is possible to have an opinion on both though too, she can be both an "imbecile" when it comes to her opinions, and someone you may not want to hug because you're not "blind", it may not be relevant to the argument but it's perfectly fine to bring it up in my book when you speak generally of someone. It is possible to compartmentalise one from the other. Also, In the case of this discussion though it seems the argument is based on how she looks and the reluctance of hugging by a certain MP. Then her appearance seems to be central to the discussion as it seems you believe (as well as Abbott) it is based on her appearance, so comments on her appearance here are fair game according to your rules outlined for this case. I agree too with being a meritocrat, best person for the role. False quotas and misrepresented statistics need to be taken off the table in reality, but unfortunately it's deeply entrenched in society. [Post edited 18 Feb 2017 13:08]

She has mastered the art of not answering a question though, and deflecting via virtue signalling, I will give her that. A true politician.
