Rugby World Cup Thread 15:39 - Sep 15 with 36556 viewskingsburyR

I don't think someone has started one yet.

Can't see past New Zealand but Ill have a cheeky £10 on the Aussies who always come good in a world cup.

And Bet of the week is for the Aussies to come top of England's group @ 2/1

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

I'm not too fussed about rugby but living near to The Twickenham stadium i watched the end of the opening ceremony. I thought it was good apart from some bloke shouting along while World In Union was being sung by the lady.

10 games at Twickers and 10 times my section of the A316 will be shut!

I noticed the tournament is 6 weeks, thats 50% longer than the footie world cup.

Rugby Luggites should shut up whilst this is going on. Their Rugby World Cup barely involves two teams.

Well I didn't enjoy that much - maybe it was the paddy boozer I was in?

The National Anthem was good; those boys put the footballers and Corbyn to shame

Rugby is not a game that enthuses but I'm hoping to grow into the tournament

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Not an expert but it seems to me this England side give away too many silly penalties .

Wasn't it just! And it sets up Huddersfield v Leeds for next week. Got a little feeling for the Giants this year, would be nice anyway.

When I've seen us we've looked a bit sloppy at times but we seem to have improved on that front. I was reading an article somewhere from a NZ angle and they seem to think that World Cup refs are much more pernickety than they are used to, so the game doesn't get as open as they like. So even if we give away penalties in the big games, we might be better off doing that than letting it flow and conceding tries. I don't know enough about it but I guess that silly penalties are to be avoided at any time.

Never liked egg chasing anyway but that was mostly boring with all the stoppages to review decisions, going the way of US Football.

Turned over at half time to watch Googlebox

Don't want to and wont watch any of it including the final even if England got there, the 2003 final I worked over time on a Sunday morning whilst the game was on, no interest in egg chasing of the union variety whatsoever.

Crumb of comfort after the Rabbits, I suppose.

Cracking semis coming up in the NRL. Broncos v Roosters and Melbourne v Cowboys. Despite going for the Roosters, I'd love to see the Cowboys win one. Fantastic to watch.

You are obviously interested enough in it to think that everyone else is interested in the fact that you are not interested.

How interesting.

Stewards going nuts in the corner was a nice touch. Japan played ball in hand, the antidote to South Africa.

400/1 you mean matched on Betfair I think

Quite possibly the biggest shock ever in a one-off match.

Wow!!

With those odds, It's impossible to comprehend how they can pull out not just a result, but a performance as good as that!

Maybe France has been brought by some Malaysian businessmen?!

Great result by Japan, especially when you take into account their nickname.
